Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Alex Anderson's love of quilting all began in 1978 when she completed her Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt as a part of her work towards her degree in art from San Francisco State University. Over the years, her central focus has been to understand fabric relationships and to develop an intense appreciation of traditional quilts and beautiful quilting surface design. Alex is the author of 30 books with C&T Publishing, in four languages, selling near 1 million copies worldwide. Her quilts and instruction tips have also appeared in numerous magazines. She is the National Spokesperson for Bernina of America, a promotional partner for AccuQuilt's GO!, as well as a designer of her own line of fabrics with P&B Textiles, and threads with Superior Threads. For 11 years, she served as host of Simply Quilts on HGTV. Alex continues to be one of the most sought-after instructors and lecturers in the international quilting and sewing industry. Alex is a founding partner of The Quilt Show.com and The Quilt Life Magazine (published by AQS) with Ricky Tims. The Quilt Show is the world's first full-service interactive online video/web TV programming created just for quilters. With over 120,000+ registered members in over 100 countries, The Quilt Show.com's mission is to educate, inspire, entertain, connect and grow the world quilting community in a fun, positive and interactive environment. The Quilt Life Magazine is a bimonthly magazine dedicated to celebrating the lifestyle of today's quiltmaker in a fresh and beautiful format. Alex was chosen as the 2008 Silver Star Award winner, an annual recognition by the International Quilt Festival to a quilter "whose work and influence has made -- and continues to make -- a sizable and positive impact on the quilting industry and community." Alex was also chosen by the readers of Quilter's Newsletter magazine (Feb 2009) as "The Most Influential Person in The Quilting Industry" (in a three-way tie with Ricky Tims and Karey Bresenhan of Quilts, Inc). Alex's personal mission is not only to share her love of quilting with anyone who will listen, but to educate and encourage those interested in quilting as clearly and simply as possible, so quilting can continue to be handed down from generation to generation. Alex has two children and lives in Northern California with her husband. Visit Alex on the web at www.alexandersonquilts.com and www.thequiltshow.com

5.0 von 5 Sternen BEST thing I bought when I started quilting 17. April 2015
Von Holly - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
LOVE this!! I wanted to start quilting and my friend referred me to this book. It is not huge but it does not have to be. My first quilt I made was in there. From start to finish. The directions and then tips are spot-on and so easy to follow. There are patterns for all levels on here. Each pattern will tell you the exact amount of fabric you will need and for all the different size blankets you may want. I use and refer to this book each time. The borders, binding, pressing, etc. I can make a baby blanket or it provides me what I need if I want to make a Queen or Twin. This is going to be a big tool for me for a very long time!

3.0 von 5 Sternen Bought for Quilt Basic Class 21. August 2011
Von Kindle Customer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
We were asked to purchase this book for a Basic Quilting class at a local fabric store. It is a wonderful reference book with nice pictures. The directions are a little hard to follow if you are a beginner and have no instructor. Now that I have completed the class I understand a lot more what is being said in the book and will use it more.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Excellent beginners book 27. März 2013
Von aunty - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Ibought this book to go with a beginning and intermediate course at a local sewing store. The book covers all the beginning needs from choosing fabric to completing the binding. I completed the first quilt-Rail Fence Quilt and am starting the last-Samplar Quilt with the course I'm taking. I will be using the book to complete the other 6 quilts and as a resource. I feel it has all the basic information needed.
I only gave 4 stars because the store instructor gave more information about pinning (basting) the quilt and gave us a different and easy way to complete mitered binding which looks very nice.
5.0 von 5 Sternen Best Start Quilting Book on the Market 28. Juli 2014
Von Wendy G - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle-Edition mit Audio/Video Verifizierter Kauf
I have been teaching quilting for years and this book is terrific. Start Quilting with Alex Anderson covers all aspects of quilting in detail, which really helps the first time quilter. The designs have been updated with a fresh approach that add interest and excitement to the classics - even Fence Rail takes on a new look! The content enables the new quilter to easily complete a quilt and leverage all the patterns in the book to continue to sharpen their skills. For the quilter that wants to sharpen their skills the projects will stretch them as well. For the Quilt Teacher, it is a great textbook, that is easy to follow and fun for the students.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great Book for Learners! 16. Dezember 2013
Von Kindle Customer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
This is a great book for first-time quilters. Alex provides a list of all the supplies you need to get going. Her instructions for the patterns are clear and precise. I used this book for my first two quilt projects and still refer to it from time to time when I need to refresh my memory. I recommend it to anyone who is starting to quilt.
