Mit der 4-Port-PCI Express-USB 3.0-Karte PEXUSB3S44V können Sie einem PCIe x4-fähigen PC vier Quad Bus USB 3.0-Ports hinzufügen. Quad Bus-Architektur verbessert die USB 3.0-Leistung durch Übertragen von Daten auf unabhängigen Kanälen an den Computer, sodass die Dateiübertragung schneller erfolgt.Wenn mehrere Geräte angeschlossen sind, wird die maximale Bandbreite bei herkömmlichen Single Bus USB 3.0-Karten auf alle Ports verteilt. Ich habe mir diese Karte in der 4 Kanal Version für Oculus Rift besorgt, da meine USB Anschlüsse für meine gesamte Peripherie inkl. Oculus Rift nicht ausgereicht haben und diese Karte pro USB Port einen eigenen Chip verbaut hat, sodass die Last gleichmäßig verteilt werden kann und sich nichts in die Quere kommt ;).

1 Stern Abzug, da die Karte nur mit den Microsoft Windows (10) Treibern Ordnungsgemäß mit Oculus Rift funktioniert (mit den Hersteller Treibern hatten die Sensoren Disconnects). Weiters funktionieren die Sensoren mit einem 5m Verlängerungskabel an dieser Karte nicht Ordnungsgemäß (mit 3 Metern kein Problem).

Der Preis ist etwas hoch, aber dafür bekommt man auch maximale Leistung.

Habe ein x58 Mainboard. Dieses hat keinen USB 3 Support, somit bin ich auf diese Karte gestoßen

Die Karte ist rasend schnell und funktioniert. Auch UASP macht sich mit passendem Laufwerk sehr gut bemerkbar.

Die CPU Last ist im allgemeinen sehr niedrig. Habe eine Karte mit diesem Chipset ohne UASP (letzte Nummer ist ne 0), diese braucht mehr Ressourcen/ Systemleistung. Bei Mausbewegung und Datenschubsereien ist die alte Karte deutlich schlechter.

Der andere Vorteil der Startech-Karte hier: Der Input lag. Mauseingaben/ Tastatureingaben reagieren so, wie man es von PS/2 gewohnt ist. (Quasi sofort) Dies ist weder mit der USB3-Karte ohne UASP der Fall, noch mit USB 2 Controllern. Diese laggen immer leicht hinterher. In Spielen spuerbar.

Alles in allem: Der Preis ist hoch, die Leistung aber gegeben!

Verwende die Karte in älterem Homeserver von Acer!
Passt genau, versorgt vier Gehäuse a' 4 Platten.
Guter und gleichmässiger Durchsatz, vorteilhafter 4-Lane Betrieb statt nur mit 1er!
Hierdurch lassen sich am Acer insgesamt 21(!) Festplatten betreiben, ohne usb 2.0 nehmen zu müssen!
Absolut empfehlenswert!

I went through a few USB3 cards and they just barely beat USB2 performance, when they worked at all. So it was a great pleasure when this just plugged in and worked after loading the drivers, which come supplied on a CD.

This board is really fast and lets you get the most out of your USB3 drives, especially external SSD drives, they really scream on this interface card. Hard disks or SSD is about the only thing that will benefit from USB3, most other things are slower, like a keyboard or mouse, even a TV USB box does not even tax USB2, but no doubt you will get a major boost in performance if you have USB3 drives currently plugged into USB2 ports.

Overall this is a great product that does exactly what is says it will do. I would not hesitate to suggest this to a friend and am very happy with this purchase. This cost about twice as much as many of them but well worth it, it works.

Hardware Installation Rating = 5

The physical install is very easy, open your PC, find an empty slot and plug it in. You can optionally provide the card additional power by plugging in a spare SATA power cord in your PC. If you do not have a SATA type connection or no spare power cords in your PC you can get one from Amazon for under 10 bucks. (Older PC tend to have 4 pin Molex power connectors, if that is your case you can get a Molex to SATA adaptor here for under 10 bucks.

The good news is that power cable is not required for the board to work unlike most of them, and if everything you plan to plug into it is powered itself then there is no need for the internal power. If you do plan to use the USB3 ports to power things you should hook up the extra power.

Software Installation Rating = 5

As easy as it gets, pop in the supplied CD and run set-up, reboot, and that is it. The CD I got had the most current drivers which was nice.

Performance Rating = 5

The real test was benchmarking it, with my original USB3 card I could not get more than about 90MB/s on a file copy, with this I am hitting 240 - 270MB/s, benchmarks and my USB3 SSD drive is insanely fast. With this card all of my USB3 drives are about twice as fast as with my old USB3 card. (the old one came with my PC and had an older chipset, it was faster than USB2 but not a lot.)

Note: if you have USB2 drives this is not going to make them go faster unless you have an underperforming USB interface, which is unlikely) However if you have been using USB3 devices with USB2 you will be blown away how much faster they go. I also tried some old USB2 drives and they worked perfectly, albeit slower by nature than a USB3 drive, but it hit full USB2 speeds with USB2 drives.

My system: HP Pavilion H8-1090t / Intel i7-990 Hex Core / 24GB RAM / 1xSSD internal SATA(500GB) / 2xSATA internal hard drives / 2xUSB3 2TB external drives (Seagate) / 1xUSB3 SSD (U32 Shadow)

With the circuit card installed in my case / motherboard combination (Silverstone SST-TJ05B-T / Asus Sabertooth X79), the USB cables can't be plugged into the connectors on the card. It's aligned too far to one side, which obstructs the connectors. There haven't been any alignment issues with the other cards I've installed in the system (Video Card, Multi-Port Ethernet, WiFi). With this one, I had to plug the cables into card (though the back slot opening of the case) before plugging the card into the motherboard. I know this is putting some stress on the card and motherboard slot, but it does fit. If the 4 USB connectors had been rotated 90° on the card, it would be much easier to plug the cables in.

With the card plugged in and the system booted, Windows tries, and fails, to install the Drivers automatically. If I download and install the latest RENESAS-USB3-Host-Driver (v3.0.23.0, 28-SEP-2012) from the StarTech PEXUSB3S44V Support web page, my system crashes every time it is awakened from Sleep - even if nothing is plugged into any of the cables.

As long as no Drivers are installed (rendering the card useless), my systems runs, sleeps, and wakes up just fine. But with the Drivers installed the system will only run OK until it goes to sleep - then it either doesn't wake up (have to press the Reset Button) or crashes with a Machine_Check_Exception. I suppose I could turn off the Sleep mode, but I don't really see that as being the solution for flaky drivers.

Does anyone have this card working successfully with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit? Which Driver version are you using? What System Power Settings are you using (including Advanced Power Settings)? Thanks for any help!

Check your case before you buy this. Notice that the ports are running horizontal whereas other cards run vertical. Take a usb cord, empty out a PCI slot, stick the usb plug through the empty space you made. This is essentially what you are going to do when you install the card. If it's too narrow, this card isn't going to do much for you. In my case (no pun intended), this card didn't work out which is a shame since I like the idea of 4x controllers on a single card. Ah well ...

This is a really excellent card. I replaced an Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter card that only provided a single RJ-45 port with the StarTech because I needed powered USB 3.0 ports in order to get a new monitor with accompanying soundbar working. The card is powered using a SATA cable. It provides power to the card, which in turn powers the USB 3.0 ports up to 900mA per port.

I connected my monitor to one of the USB 3.0 ports using an uplink cable in order to power all of the USB ports on the monitor. The soundbar is connected to one of the monitor's USB 3.0 ports. An HDMI connection from my video card to the monitor provides both audio and video. The soundbar is my default audio device, which works great with this setup.

I also bought a 1 TB Western Digital USB 3.0 external drive that I connect to the StarTech card as well and it works great. Having both USB 3.0 ports that are fully powered along with an RJ-45 port for Ethernet all on one card is definitely convenient.

My computer, a Dell Dimension E510, is running Windows 7 Home Premium so it didn't install drivers automatically via plug and play. I didn't bother with the drivers that came with the card. I instead downloaded the latest drivers from StarTech's web site. I installed the USB 3.0 driver first, then the Ethernet driver. As soon as the drivers were installed everything worked. No rebooting required.

The only caveat is with the orientation of the USB 3.0 ports.

When the card is installed, the USB ports are vertically oriented. So USB plugs don't fully insert into the ports because they bump into the metal frame surrounding the PCI card's bracket. Everything works fine. It's just something to be aware of. If the ports were oriented horizontally, this wouldn't be an issue, but then there probably wouldn't be room for three USB ports.

The StarTech 3 Port USB 3.0 card with Gigabit NIC is a great system space saver. It installs easily and in my first testing performs at least as well as other USB 3.0 ports and NIC's installed in the same system.

If you want to have full USB 3.0 power available be sure to have an extra SATA power connector plugged in. I installed it in my Dell Precision Tower which runs several virtual machines and has other NIC cards and USB cards installed. I have that SATA power available and used it.

This is one of only a few USB 3.0 cards I've come across that do not REQUIRE extra power to operate. If you have a system with no available internal power connections this may be one of very few options. For example older Dell rack mount servers do not have SATA power connector available, making this card a good choice. In this situation that's a big deal and makes this card worth it's weight in gold!

The package includes the card, a low profile bracket, Driver CD and Install guide. That's every thing you need!

Installation is simple. Find an appropriate PCI express slot in you system, plug it in and secure it, plug in a SATA power connector (Optional, but limits you to low power USB 3.0 devices if not used). Close up your system and power up. Next install the drivers if needed (they are on Windows 7). With Windows 8.1 and later the USB 3.0 devices are automagically recognized. Nice!

The CD had (as of the time of this review) almost the latest drivers for Renasas USB 3.0 ports and almost latest drivers for the Realtek Gigabit NIC. It's easy to download them from the StarTech web site.

The USB ports are orientated to fit into minimal space across the bracket (making it suitable for low profile installation with the included bracket). This is fine most of the time and necessary if this is to fit in a low profile chassis. But, this can have consequences. For example, I have fat a USB thumbdrive and the metal frame of the computer is thick enough that I can't fully plug it. Other devices have been fine, but it's something to be aware may be an issue.

The Gigabit NIC is a little strange. When installed I checked on it in the device manager. Instead of appearing as a PCIe device it showed up as a USB based NIC. I'm not sure why and it seems to run full speed just fine. The NIC has support for VLAN tagging to segregate traffic across a LAN. It also supports Jumbo frames and may be a good choice use with NAS servers or other applications where this capability can boost performance.

In conclusion I think this is a great space-saving PCI Express card. You get 3 USB 3.0 ports and a gigabit LAN in one slot. It's a space saver and lets me dedicate a NIC to NAS or a virtual machine. NICE! The orientation of the USB 3.0 connector could make it difficult to plugin some oversize USB devices, but that is very minor for me.

If you have a system where you have not internal power connectors available this is one of a small number of options to add USB 3.0 capability..

All considered I like this StarTech space-saving card giving me two valuable resources with only one slot. It is definitely 5 stars in my view.
