HASH(0x9c731fb0) von 5 Sternen Star Trek Pop-Ups 23. Oktober 2015
Von JMM - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
“Star Trek Pop-Ups” is an impressive book of creativity which mixes two of my favorite things: “Star Trek” and paper crafting.

The book includes seven pop-ups from the various television shows (including the original series, The Next Generation, and Enterprise), as well as the film “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”. Most of the iconic ships and events you’d expect to see are included.

This is a large coffee-table type book which is suitable for display and will spark interest in those who come across it. It measures approximately 12x13 inches (a total footprint of 24x13 when open); the pop-ups vary in height, but several are about 12 inches tall.

I was impressed at how sophisticated the pop-ups are. The design and the engineering are very well done, with a lot of moving parts and nice detail. In flipping through the book several times, everything moved as it should without any issues. Nevertheless, you want to be very careful with the book because pop-ups tend to be quite delicate. Each page has several paragraphs of text detailing the subject and its significance to the “Star Trek” canon. Additional relevant images are also included on the page. There’s also an introduction page which discusses the origins of Star Trek and Gene Roddenberry’s vision for what it could be.

This book is a nice trip down memory lane if you’re a long-time fan of “Star Trek”. If you like the idea of a Star Trek pop-up book, then don’t hesitate to purchase because the execution is great.

Full List of Pop-Ups:
- U.S.S. Enterprise
- The Crew in “The Trouble with Tribbles”
- Klingon Bird-of-Prey over the Golden Gate Bridge
- Borg Cube
- Deep Space Nine Starfleet station
- Fortress of Doom
- Enterprise NX-01

*Note: Thank you to Thames & Hudson for providing me with a review copy of the book.

HASH(0x9b80a588) von 5 Sternen Great Pictures and Information on Star Trek 23. Oktober 2015
Von JBronder Book Reviews - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
I will admit that I know of Star Trek, you would have to be dead not to have hear something. But, and please forgive me, I am not one of the super fans that you think of. I broke my teeth on the original Star Trek with William Shatner when I was a kid. I did see some of the movies and the newer versions. I do admit that I really like the new remakes with Chris Pine in them. But I do appreciate the series and I couldn’t help but jump on the chance to review the pop-up book.

The first thing that I noticed was how big this book was. It is big enough just to have on the coffee table and the cover art just makes the outside look amazing. I couldn’t wait to open the book. There are so many illustrations and pop-ups throughout the book with lots of information on each version of Star Trek.

Just reading this book makes me want to go back and refresh myself on all of Star Trek, from William Shatner forward. This is a great book that will introduce you to Star Trek to rewet your appetite. This is a great addition to my library and I strongly recommend it to anyone that is a fan or likes similar books, movies, etc.

I received the Star Trek Pop-Ups for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

HASH(0x9b8deb34) von 5 Sternen Not a lot of "pop" 24. Oktober 2015
Von GeoLibGT - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
The Star Trek Pop Up book was a disappointment. If you are familiar with pop-up books then you are familiar with the elegance that Robert Sabuda has in his creations. The pop-ups border on amateurish work. There is not a lot of wow factor in the reveal of each pop-up. The Trouble with Tribbles is simply a few rows of tribbles with the characters behind the rows from the storage bin scene. The pop-up for Enterprise is a squashed front view of the ship.
On the bright side the book is well-written, with enough need-to-know information for a new fan to have an executive summary of the franchise.

HASH(0x9b6e9774) von 5 Sternen Fab collectors memorabilia for Trekkies of all ages 25. November 2015
Von Sarah (Feeling Fictional) - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
This is a beautiful book that is a perfect gift for any Trekkies in your life. The book is much larger than I expected (around 30cm squared) and is a really well made with a padded front and back cover and seven wonderfully detailed pop up designs inside. This isn't a children's book but it's great for teens and adults who are fans of Star Trek (it includes designs from Original series, Next Generation, Voyager and Deep Space 9).

Each of the pop ups feature an iconic image from the show:

1. U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701
2. "The Trouble with Tribbles"
3. Klingon Bird-of-Prey
4. Borg Cube
5. Deep Space 9
6. "Bride of Chaotica"
7. Enterprise NX-01

There is accompanying text with detailed information about the episode or series the image was taken from and although I doubt I'll reread the text I'll certainly revisit the book just for the pop-ups. Star Trek Pop-Ups is a lovely book to leave out as a conversation starter, it's certainly the kind of book you'll where you'll be able to flick through again and again spotting more details every time you look at it.

HASH(0x9b6e990c) von 5 Sternen A good pop-up has a certain mechanical aspect with things expanding ... 6. November 2015
Von Teresa - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
I purchased this book for the pop-ups, which were dissappointing. A good pop-up has a certain mechanical aspect with things expanding and merging into recognizable items. This book is little more than flat pictures staggered to suggest a third dimension. Several of the pop-ups are so distorted as to make the item either unrecognizable or difficult to appreciate.

I won't be keeping this book.
