To start, I feel like I kind of lucked out with the paint job on his face. It doesn't seem quite as gray and discolored as a lot of the pictures I've seen online, but it still isn't perfect by any means. Compared with the female Shepard figure, you can really tell that the paint just looks off. It's good to see that they fixed it with FemShep. However, the paint on the armor and weapons looks fantastic.
I am very pleased with the durability and flexibility of this figure. I've never owned a Play Arts Kai before, and I can say it's well worth the price I paid for it. I've experimented a little with pose and I thought it was easy to make something interesting and fairly realistic. All of his joints seem perfectly stiff, but I did have difficulty pulling his hand off to put on the omnitool.
Speaking of the weapons, I thought that while the omnitool looked pretty nice, the included assault rifle was way too small. I also had difficulty fitting either of the guns into his hand, but I didn't play around with them too much. As for accessories, I think a helmet would've been a very nice addition. As much as I like default Shepard, it'd always be nice to leave the face to the consumer's imagination.
I thought the packaging was really nice for the action figure.
The biggest issue I had was with his hair. It seemed torn when I got it and it's sticking up behind his ear. Other than that, the quality is fine, and in the end, I would recommend this to anyone who likes the Mass Effect series.
I disliked the removable hands, which is a good idea in principle, but were almost impossible to change out without breaking the thing. I also found it hard to stand on its own without putting it in a kneeling or sitting position. Not very heroic. A stand would have helped.
Recommended for ME fans who probably can't afford the $300 for the high end model or statues that Bioware currently sells.
