Beautiful and lightweight: W series design and operation
With a slim 22.9 mm, the W Series fits into the smallest jacket pocket. The housing of the DSC-W55 is made of brushed aluminium. Easy-to-understand operation aids on the large 2.5 inch LCD display, allow beginners to use the camera effortlessly. The intuitive menu navigation allows you to quickly adjust the settings to a variety of shooting situations. Stored recordings can be displayed directly with a simple push of a button.
Sophisticated: resolution, light sensitivity, zoom
As stylish as the exterior, the technically sophisticated interior of the digital camera presents itself: the resolution of 7.2 megapixels achieves excellent image results in combination with Sony's "Real Imaging Processor" technology.
In critical lighting conditions, the "High Sensitivity" mode generates an extremely high light sensitivity of 1000 ISO. This makes crystal clear recordings even when the built-in flash cannot be activated. The unavoidable image noise at such a high ISO value is reduced by Sony's Clear RAW Noise reduction technology.
The high-quality Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lens allows perfect images in a variety of shooting situations: the triple optical zoom can be combined with the six times digital zoom to a fourteen times smart zoom, macro shots are possible up to a minimum distance of only two centimetres in full image quality.

The camera is PictBridge compatible: photo prints are therefore possible without a computer. The battery of the new W series proves to be remarkably enduring. With the possibility to take pictures in 16:9 format - the personal slide show on the TV screen becomes a real experience: holiday or party photos can be filled with screen without distortion. The included AV cable allows a quick and easy connection of the camera and TV. Video clips record the W55 in MPEG format, VGA resolution (640 x 480 pixels) and at 30 frames per second.
