Das in dem Buch beschriebene Konzept Veränderungen durch Microresolutions herbeizuführen ist absolut einleuchtend und funktioniert. Wichtig ist sicherlich aber, dass man auch - wie von der Autorin beschrieben - immer wieder nachjustiert, bis das Vorhaben durchführbar und dem eigenen Lebensstil angepasst ist. Dies erfordert Geduld und Durchhaltevermögen, aber schlechte Angewohnheiten sind ja nun auch nicht von einem über den anderen Tag zu Angewohnheiten geworden, sondern erst mit ordentlich "Durchhaltevermögen"...

Wer gut Englisch spricht und zudem Dinge in seinem Leben verändern will, aber bislang oft an den Vorhaben scheiterte, für den ist das Buch sicherlich hilfreich. Zudem ist es flüssig und unterhaltsam geschrieben.

You've read all the books on getting things done, sharpening the saw, putting first things first. Then you put those books down, resolve to be a new person. Tomorrow. Tomorrow becomes next week. Next week becomes next month. Years pass, and you still haven't gotten into the weekly review habit.

Enter Micro Resolutions. Simple, micro, small changes at the margins done two at a time. All of a sudden, small resolutions become habits, become transformations. And all based on the latest discoveries in neuroscience and the psychology of efficacy and happiness.

At a bare minimum, read the first part of the book. Then set a micro resolution to read 5 pages a day.

I originally found this book at my local library, and I liked it so much that I not only bought a copy for myself, I bought copies for two of my friends. I love the concept of a micro-resolution, and the cumulative effect that they can have. The book is divided into essentially 3 parts: the description of how the author arrived at the concept of a micro-resolution/how to crate your own micro-resolution, example micro-resolutions by topic area (such as organization, weight loss, exercise, etc.), and a discussion of the process of implementing your micro-resolutions, and some of the challenges you might experience. I find the latter type of information very helpful in any self-help type book, because it keeps you from giving up when you hit a roadblock of some kind. I also found the micro-resolutions by topic discussion very helpful. Overall I am very happy with this book, and strongly recommend it.

My only complaint is that she oversimplifies the issue of weight loss. I think the information/approach she presents is probably very helpful for people who are like her with less than 20 lbs to lose, but her calories in/calories out approach, whiel still common in the weightloss field is not really how our bodies work (it's been so successful for the tens of millions of people who are struggling with their weight, hasn't it? [Yes, sarcasm intended]).

First part of the book is packed with great information & detail on how to make micro resolutions become habit. The second part of the book gives examples real life cases in which people improved using the system.

I have quit smoking, reduced my sugar intake by more than half and lost two pounds my first week reading this... I am so happy with this book. I listen to it in the car and while I cook. It soothes me and has helped so much. It helps to really listen a couple of times and sit down and write out your behavior to see what small move will change everything.... it really works. Fantastic.

Finally--a practical guide to changing behavior and developing new habits! Most books that talk about some kind of self-improvement are long on theory and short on practicality. This book is not. The author provides the basis for her thinking, but she really focuses on practical examples. This book has certainly caused me to stop trying to conquer the entire mountain in one leap, but to tackle small, discreet tasks that make a difference.
