From USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez comes a hot-new series of alpha bodyguards.

She was my nightmare. Every time I closed my eyes, I watched her fall into that inferno. Over and over, I failed to save her.

I hadn’t been able to reach her, and the guilt only burned hotter over time. Four years later, I was the unreachable one.

Heroes aren’t always saints. Sometimes, we’re nothing more than jaded sinners driven by sleepless nights and hearts full of darkness.

And then I met her. She was a dreamer who managed to soothe my scars and heal my wounds.

But, as the flames closed in around us, I feared I wasn’t the right man to save her. That is until I realized she was the one woman I’d burn the world down to protect.

I loved Singe! This is one of those books where it was time to go to bed and I thought, no, one more chapter...until I was finished reading. I couldn't put it down. I loved Rhion and Jude! They were wonderful together. Oh, this was a great story.

Rhion is close with the guys at Guardian Protection Agency. She brings them breakfast and loves hanging out with them all, especially Johnson. She was so much fun. So quick on her feet and witty I loved it! She made me laugh. Even though she has a not so good past, things that might break other people, she was light and fun and sunshine. It was wonderful.

Jude is the new guy at Guardian Protection Agency, though things aren't going like he planned. For one thing Johnson seems to have it out for him for some reason. For another he runs into Rhion, a girl he shouldn't want, but can't seem to stay away from.

These two were so much fun to read. They both have had a lot to deal with in their lives, but they were perfect together. Rhion is good at hiding her fears, taking control and trying to live somewhat, but she still has issues. I loved that she wrote romances. I enjoyed watching her come up with story ideas and get a little glimpse into that world. She was so much fun. And Jude was heartbreaking to read. He puts so much on his own shoulders, tries to take everyone's pain and suffering as his own. I loved him and loved how Rhion was able to help him deal with some of his stuff. Without her I think he would have fallen into a deeper depression. He needed the kick in the butt she gave him at times. He needed her opposite view of events that had transpired in his life. He needed the positive good that is Rhion.

This story was amazing.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Wickedly good start to this series! #IgotSingedwell 5. Februar 2017

Singe is the fast-paced start to this wonderful new series by Aly Martinez. A story about two broken souls, forever tied together due to a horrific event and the road they take to find their peace.

When Jude Levitt and Rhion Park find themselves face to face 4 years after Rhion almost died in a fire the uncertainty of their unexpected reunion had me gasping right along with them. What both of them have been through since that horrible day is relayed piece by piece as the story progresses along. We get alternate points of view and at times it almost crushed me to read what they both endured while apart. And I'm not sure I have ever read such a positive character like Rhion. She took her pain and somehow turned it into a positive. Sure she still has issues and a fear of being left alone and out of her apartment, but there is this radiance that glows from within her. There was no way Jude could have ever resisted her. I fell a bit in love with her too!

As we watch as they fall for each other and begin to trust again, there is still a mountain of unanswered questions and the author certainly makes us wait for those answers. At times I was as frustrated as Jude was, with her skirting of his queries. But it all makes perfect sense given what both have been through and the urge to protect one another from more pain. I loved that Jude got Rhion, even when he was ready to throttle her for being less than candid. Their ongoing banter was perfect.

The entire Guardian security crew is a steady influence on Rhion and Jude as the new man on board has a ton of hurdles to overcome before he is considered one of them. I love these GUYS! They made me laugh more than once and by the looks of things, these alpha hotties will be melting more panties as each of their stories are told.

There is a ton going on in the book and the reader needs to pay close attention to details. There is an underlying story that has the Guardian guys always on their guard wrt Rhion and it really is blended beautifully with the romance between Jude and Rhion. Jude is a protective Alpha male and he is super sexy. He and Rhion enjoy many passionate tryst which are always a plus.

It's a great read and I honestly can't wait for more from this series.

Really well done.

I wrote a review last night for Singe and as I lay in bed afterwards, I thought about it. I knew it was dodgy but waking up to the babble I wrote was quite embarrassing. So, I'm doing a re-do and sticking to my feelings on this one.

For the first time since I returned to work, I contemplated a sickie. Well, I didn't really, but I did a thorough self-examination for coughs, colds and headaches just to make sure I was fit enough to go to work. I wanted to stay in bed with Jude...and Rhion.

Rhion...that bloody name threw me every time. I had to keep thinking of the line where they joke about Rhion rhyming with lyin. Anyways, I loved her character. Even with a very real and strong fear of stepping out of her front door, she is still one of the strongest characters I've ever met. She wears her scars with honour and copes with her accident by putting pen to paper...or fingers to keyboard. Her family are the men who protect her and her best friend Brianna. There are other people in her life that she calls family, but for me, The Guardians and Brianna are the real ones.

Jude was a bit of a mixed up character to me. The repercussions of one night changed his life forever. His dreams and ambitions were ruined with one phone call. I find it interesting that the one phone call that ruined his life is never mentioned again. For me, I wish it had been discussed and acknowledged that protocol had been breached and a career ended because he was guilted into a call out when he was off-duty. It probably stuck in my head more because I just finished a great story about an Emergency Call Centre. Anyways...

So, two people affected by one night and left with scars to show they survived. One stepped up and opened her wings, the other stayed in his cocoon stuck in the nightmare. Both hoping to one day be in the other company. One to share her dreams and the other to apologise for the nightmare.

There was times reading Singe that I felt like I was reading my story. Rhion has scars and lives in the book world...yep, that's me. Luckily, I don't have millions of dollars that people feel like they need to murder, bribe or suck up to me (I could handle a little sucking up, but I'd prefer to leave the murder and bribery to Rhion). When Rhion mentions authors that I consider my authors, I couldn't help but love her more. Her chats about books are what the romance book world is for me.

The one thing that I struggled with (for the characters) were their dastardly family relations. All of them made me want to throw things and wish for more for them. One, in particular, I wanted to pack her up and ship her out of the hell she lived. Luckily, her mum could be bought off and by the end of the story, there were improvements.

Singe made my little heart sing. I loved it from start to finish. I never felt like throwing my kindle, if anything, I was like a little child with my kindle wanting it in touching distance like it was a new toy. I love new toys and this story and author (new to me), was like receiving a new toy and finding out that there were more just like it waiting at the shop when I was ready.

Thank you, Aly Martinez, you have a new freaky fan (I promise not to stalk you too much).
5.0 von 5 Sternen Perception is everything 5. April 2017

Perception is everything.

That might as well be the theme for this book. In fact….get rid of the synopsis, just put ‘perception is everything’ and leave it at that.

Every single thing in Jude and Rhion’s lives are based on their perception of the events that have shaped them. From the way Jude perceives his role in what happened to Rhion. How Rhion looks at Jude. How the men of Guardian look at Jude. How Rhion feels about her brother, Apollo, her step-sister, her step-mother, her ‘uncle’ Pete….everything and everyone has multiple facets that you have to work through to figure out what’s really going on at any given time. Nothing is straight forward.

Each time I thought I had a handle on where the story was going, Martinez twisted it. I thought I was reading a romance, a second chance novel…and it is, but it’s so much more.

Jude is pretty messed up. He only ever wanted to be a police officer. He worked his whole life towards that goal, only to have it all ripped away from him with one disastrous miscalculation. I didn’t think what he did was that bad…but again, there are things we don’t know until later and I can see why he’d still be beating himself up. He’s trying to make up for his past mistakes by dedicating himself to helping Rhion.

Rhion is just as messed up as Jude is but you don’t get the full appreciation of how much until Jude enters her life. She knows Jude’s story and she doesn’t think Jude has anything to feel guilty about. There are so many layers to how they connect. But I loved Rhion’s outlook on life. She’s the kind of woman who inspires loyalty in everyone she meets. She loves with her whole heart and she’s kind of a pushover for those close to her. But she’s also lived through some pretty horrendous stuff and come out still seeing the good in people.

This is the very best of romance with a hint of intrigue that will keep you glued. It also doesn’t hurt that there is a whole new group of hot men for Martinez to keep writing about. Each one of them, from Devon, who we met in The Fall Up, to Johnson, Rhion’s protector, has their own issues that I can’t wait to dig into.

Singe is the first book in the new series, Guardian Protection, by Aly Martinez. I had forgotten how much I loved Martinez's style of writing.

Singe was well written, with the storyline, characters and supporting cast of characters all well developed. I was captivated from the first page to the last word. It was a serious plot built around a tragedy that also had tons of humor.

Jude Levitt. Sexy, gorgeous, intense, and scarred - both physically and emotionally. The once cop, now body guard, remembers the night in his nightmares that changed his life. He remembers his butterfly. It made him who he is today.

Rhion Park. Gorgeous, fun loving, quirky, creative. Yet also isolated, lives in fear, and is a hermit. She's a contrast, living the only way she knows how after the terrible tragedy that almost took her life. He not only saved her but he's in her dreams every night.

Martinez did a great job unveiling pieces of the puzzle throughout the story, keeping it interesting and intriguing. She also threw in some plot twists so everything wasn't predictable.

Additionally, Martinez dove deep into the support characters, providing numerous teasers for promising stories in future books.

I loved everything about Singe. It was a great start to the new series and I can't wait for more.

This amazing new series is one that you won't want to miss. It's addicting and makes you drink lots of wine and eat chocolate well that's my excuse. After the first few pages I was hooked. Aly has such a talent for writing the words flow from her mind and leave you grasping on the edge of your seat. The story is beautiful and broken. The characters are easy to fall in love with and I hope to see books for all the secondary characters . I love getting lost in Aly's mind she is an author that leaves you wanting more and her books never disappoint. You need this book in you life so go pickup a copy ASAP.
