Kurzbeschreibung

Space pirate Aston West has been in trouble with the law before, so thinks nothing of a random cargo check. HASH(0x9be173a8) von 5 Sternen Well worth your time and expense. A good read. 5. Oktober 2014
Von Sam McGraner - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
A hero must have a sidekick, but this hero stumbles upon his in a far away spaceship terminal filled with many on-the-go space travelers. Though he doesn't want a sidekick he can't seem to shake her. Oh, did I mention that she is a twelve-year-old girl. He is asked by a beautiful redhead (who is the Seeker) If he will rescue her from the bondage her special powers has brought her to. Though he is reluctant, his new (unofficial) sidekick isn't. The rest of the story describes their struggle for freedom for the three of them. Well worth your time and expense. A good read.

T.M. Hunter describes Aston West thus:

"Aston is not what your first choice for a hero would be. He doesn't fit the stereotype of the (as my favorite label from the "Firefly" series indicates) "big d*** hero" like most in the genre do. He's the everyman who just happens to get into more than his fair share of tricky situations"

In "Seeker" this is how Aston describes himself as well. Aston's way of making money is as a scavenger pirate and cargo transporter. That means that he cleans up after the pirates if he comes across one of their kills. Not an unknown occupation in today's world either. Although here we probably just call it the way business is done.

Both Aston and the Seeker are prey to a freelance operator who happens to be the system's law enforcement service provider. Whoop, dee, doo. Naimakeeda (the seeker) is in as much goo as Aston himself. With his arrival she sees the light at the end of the tunnel appear knowing that it is not a train. I guess there must be some advantage to not being able to avoid knowing what is going on inside people's heads.

"Seeker" is a space opera with most of its focus on characters. The one bit of tech that we kind of get to know about is "Jeanie". Other than that the novella is an adventure story for young adults with pirates that you see and pirates that you do not see. The biggest pirate of them all is the man who is supposed to uphold the law. Tsk, tsk, corrupt politicians - whoever heard of such a thing???

This is a light and easily accessible read in the form of a short-story/novella.

HASH(0x9bd89474) von 5 Sternen I Love Aston West! 30. August 2012
Von H. Miller - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
I am a HUGE Aston West fan! He's a little bit Han Solo and a little bit John Crichton, with a dash of Corbin Dallas thrown in. He's one of those space guys you can't get out of your head. Seeker is a stand alone adventure, which allowed T.M. Hunter to showcase some of Aston West's best features. For one, he's intelligent, combining street smarts with intuition and a mind that is always moving. And, he's got this sense of moral neutrality that leans toward more altruism than he'd like, especially where the ladies, no matter their ages, are concerned. In other words, he's not afraid to shoot someone if it's going to save someone he cares about.

The concept of the seeker was sexy and scary. I won't give away much, but you wouldn't want this mind-reader near you if valued your secrets and your sanity.

I look forward to reading much more in the vast Aston West universe and finding out more about this pirate.

HASH(0x9c07415c) von 5 Sternen Han Solo's got nothing on Aston West! 17. Juli 2013

As space pirates go, I've seen them come and go. Few have staying power. Let me tell you, Aston's got it! This book is packed with action and will leave you wanting more. Hunter has an impeccable talent for storytelling. I can't wait to pick up another one of his books.

HASH(0x9bdeab94) von 5 Sternen Feels like a short introduction 9. Oktober 2013
Von M. Parker - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

It's about 70 pages long, not long enough to be a full book.
I finished it last night, it was a fun read.
If I think back, the story was simple, even mundane.
(It would be like just one episode of Firefly, for example.)

But...

everything is in the delivery.

The author's language was very easy and natural.
I mean me the reader in the head of Aston as it happens... that kind of natural (it's a talent).
It's a good book. Had it been expanded to a full-length adventure, I would have said a darn great book.
It felt like one book was torn into 4 pieces and I was reading just the first quarter.
Character started, but not expanded enough, not long enough to get to know them, etc.
It's free, give it a try as you wait in an airport or in your coffee break.
I liked Aston and Seeker and loved Lily.
