This book is Amazing!, I loved it, I read it over and over, I even slept with it under my pillow. It made me cry, laugh, and took my breath away. Bose's work is amazing, tho sadly hardly recognized by present day science. Personally I think Bose's discoveries are on a par with, if not more important than Einstein's. God bless you Bose.
And many thanks to Mr Tompkins and Mr. Bird. You enriched at least my universe.

It is one of the best books about plants that I have ever read. It is wonderful fun, and teaches you to aprecciate God's creatures. I found particularly interesting the chapter on Steve Baxter's primary cell perception theory and experiments. I strongly recommend it, especially if you are interested in metaphysical interpretations about life. You'll get a good glimpse of a higher purpose, a higher harmony.

When you are interested in the consciousness of plants and the question whether they are aware of influences of their envirenment or not, this is the book that extensively addresses these themes. It is well written and the information is mostly scientifically based. The contents of the chapters is truly amazing and leaves me in awe for the world, the mind and the feelings of plants. Very, very impressive. Another related book on the subject I can highly recommend is that of the highly praised scientist Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose: Response in the living and non-living.

This is one of the more enlightening texts I have ever come upon. To think that pre-electronic work was done by Bose in India more than 100 years ago is indicative of intellect and insight the likes of Tesla and Einstein. I have with great enthusiasm told and retold stories from this book to so many and I enjoy the looks of astonishnment resultant. To know that plants can be amplifiers or somehow otherwise receptors -conveyors of our thoughts-feelings, continues to me to be such a mind-blower. To those of you really turned on by this book, you would be equally entertained by the very thought provoking book: MORNING OF THE MAGICIANS. Give it a shot. Most hearty thanks to Mr. Tompkins and Mr. Bird.

This book goes into things that are so incredible it's unbelivable!,( yet believable). I'd love to recreate some of the experiments in the book but the book doesn't give you enough information in regards to exactly how it was done, materials used, etc. Conveinently? krkingston@aol.com

It's known that soil typically improves after the harvesting of soybeans & peanuts & let's not forget also what the Bible has to say about taking care of the land - to give the land a rest every seventh year.

This was a very informative book. It shows how scientists have recently proven plant thought, emotion, and sensing powers. This book must be read by as many people as possible (except parts of chapter two) before any more of the horrible plant abuse that I am constantly witnessing takes place. This book confirmed many beliefs about plants that I had prior to reading it, and it will help in much of my own experimentation. Thank you Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird!

I acquired this book in the early seventies, when I was a young man. Mr. Tompkins and Mr. Bird did an excellent job with a difficult subject of plant life and the science of Botany by making it romantic and interesting. Over the years, I have added thousands of books to my library, moving numerous times and even married a librarian. But I have always known which shelve in my library this volume could be found. My copy is like an old friend.

The author's correct name is Christopher Bird; not to be confused with Christopher O. Bird.
