Heard about Seasonics legendary products and quality and I have not been dissapointed thus far. You get what you pay for. Only Super Flower PSU's come close to matching Seasonic and yes, that means Corsair which are just rebranded Seasonics EVGA's which are Super Flowers rebadged
Its been powering my following rig since 2016 summer without a single hiccup.
i7-4790k @ 4.7ghz
Overclocked ASUS STRIX 1080 GTX at 2050mhz core
16gigs G.Skill DDR3 3600 RAM
1 Terabyte Samsung EVO 850 SSD
Western Digital 640gig Caviar Black
If your looking for a unique, powerful and pretty much top of the line PSU with a unique and sexy look, the Snow Silents are utterly hard to beat! There are rumors that Snow Silents will be made into the new Titanium Prime PSU's later in 2017 so these Platinum rated models may eventually no longer be around for much longer
The first thing you'll notice when unboxing this power supply is the detail in the packaging. The power supply itself is wrapped in a velour bag. The modular cables come in a separate, 2 pocket pouch with Velcro flaps. There is a small instruction manual, a case badge and some cable ties as well as some really nice Velcro wire wraps with the Seasonic logo on them.
The next thing you'll notice is the fit and finish on the power supply. The steel case is powder coated a nice dark grey color, all of the plugs are solid feeling. I don't feel any play or wiggle when I plug any of the modular plugs in.
I'm running the supply in Hybrid fan control mode - this means the fan doesn't spin up at all until the supply hits 30% load - which happens rarely if ever for me. The fan runs in a silent mode (rated at 16 dBA) until it hits over 50% load - which I definitely haven't experienced yet, despite some heavy gaming.
The power coming out of the supply is clean and stable. Looking at my motherboard monitoring application (I'm using an Asrock board so it's A-Tuning) the voltages show very stable with nearly constant voltages with tiny, infrequent fluctuations, well within spec.
Before I buy a product, I like to read all of the negative reviews to get an idea of what people are saying the pain points are. I read through the reviews for this supply, and the only really valid sounding point I read was problems with the rigidity of the included modular cables, and difficulty plugging them in to the modular plugs on the supply, and/or components. I didn't find the cables to be overly rigid, and they plugged right into all of my components, and the modular plugs on the supply without any trouble. I've been at this a long time, so I might be more practiced than some other reviewers, or my supply might have rolled off the line after some tweaks, but based on the overwhelming number of positive customer reviews, and what I've seen from the reputable professional power supply reviewers, this is most likely not the case.
The only drawback I can mention for this supply (and it's one I gladly accept) is the lack of short cable kits for Seasonic supplies. You have to go 3rd party to get anything like that, and it's just a shame, but again, not a deal breaker at all - it just ensures I actually use the cool looking Velcro wire wraps!
