But shortly after, I started getting an error message stating the "USB is not responding". Plus it's also NOT charging my iPhone or any other iPhones. I tried to initiate a return or replacement within the 30 day window but Amazon states "This item isn't eligible return."
Sigh! Another bad iPhone charging cable that doesn't work. I haven't even used it for a week. Ugh!! Bad return policy and cable that doesn't even work. Definitely don't recommend. Spend a couple extra dollars and get a better brand.
I can say that this is the most substantial feeling retractable cord I have seen before. It is several ticks above the rest for gauge of the wire and the retractor part seems very well made.
I believe those who tell of tangles may be using it wrong. You MUST extend the cord by pulling evenly on both ends simultaniously. If you do not, the cord 'backs up' around the retractor and I can see how that could cause tangles and worse. It is not the products fault if it is used improperly.
BTW, It looks as if there is a version of this same cord in black for a couple of bucks less, if you've no color preference.
I almost didn't purchase this because I have a rather hefty case on my iPhone 6 plus and was put off by the review of it not fitting in someone's Lifeproof case. Happily, I did take the risk and it fits my case opening fine. The opening of your case must be at least 3/8 inch to accommodate this cord.
Pros: The retractable cable protects the wire from being damaged while inside a bag and prevents the cable itself from being tangled with other cables. It also allows the right length for what method of charging (short for a portable battery and long for outlet).
Cons: There are only set lengths for the cable so you can't adjust length as you please. The cable is flat and vertically long, so it sometimes bends weirdly if you are charging on a wall outlet.
These cons are very small but the overall use of the cable outweighs the pros rather than cons. This cable is mainly for people who move around a lot and need a usb cable in handy. If you are planning on using this cable to use a s a wall outlet I would suggest to look for another cable.
We use this cable in the car to charge our iPhones. We haven't had any compatibility issues to date.
Solid retractable cables are the way to go. It's worth the extra cost to cut down on the cable clutter. I do think this cable should be cheaper, however.
