Der Verlag über das Buch
A Sensitive Japan/U.S. Cross-Cultural Study
Unexpected difficulties (and opportunities) are encountered when people from different cultures live, work, and socialize together. This book describes the behaviors that may be encountered when Americans intereact with the Japanese, the reason for the behaviors, and suggestions for dealing with them. Readers discover what will embarrass, motivate, irritate, and earn the respect of the Japanese with whom they are trying to communicate.
Experienced Japanese and American business personnel and diplomats have learned that the road to success in working together lies in a careful study and genuine understanding of each other's values, priorities, and practices.
Dr. Condon examines the critical elements of Japanese culture which affect the way Japanese and Americans perceive and react to each other, and offers concrete guidelines for establishing effective relationships. Condon, who currently teaches intercultural communication at the University of New Mexico, lived and worked in Japan for ten years as a professor of communication at International Christian University and as a cross-cultural consultant. He is the author of a number of books, including the currently out-of-print but highly respected AN INTRODUCTION TO INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION, with Fathi Yousef.
