"Rich in detail and insight... fascinating stuff" (Sam Wallace Independent)

"Nevastating" (Steven Howard The Sun)

"The English generally like their professional footballers to be either thick or humble, preferably both. Gary Neville is neither and has taken plenty of flak about daring to have opinions. If he was Dutch or Italian, rather than from Bury, he'd be considered an intellectual and his views sought on world affairs" (When Saturday Comes)

"Refreshing honesty... Although he's generally disliked by non-United fans and even derided as one of the least talented in a remarkable generation, you have to admire his staying power. His memoir presents a rounded footballer aware of the importance of work and the dedication needed to stay at the pinnacle of the game" (Rob Greig Time Out)

The sensational, brutally honest autobiography of the legendary Manchester United captain

Format: Kindle Edition
Gary Neville is a RED and he lives up to the tag. Straight to the point, no nonsense book from a honest and no nonsense player. His honesty about life, football and beliefs standout throughout the game. Despite being witness of what goes behind the scenes at United for so many years, Gary has chosen not to spill the beans, get personal about someone or bring the club / manager or other players in controversy. That's a commendable thing. He has maintained dignity about himself and the club where he made his bones.
He's focused on his opinions and that's it. Although the book is completely non controversial, it is no way uninteresting. You can hate Gary Neville as a player but he's spot on as an author.
Great Book.
HASH(0x947fe7f8) von 5 Sternen For Man U fans 26. Februar 2013
Von KMickP - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Interesting account of the recent Man U history from an inside perspective. Pretty predictable style as Neville was a die hard fan as well as a player, however it portrays a guy who was a loyal servant and "played for the jersey". His loyalty and professionalism is something of a rarity in the modern game and although he did not go short financially I'm sure, for him money and fame were not what drove or motivated him, simply the honour and experience of playing football for his boyhood heroes and country was enough. Clearly the output of playing for Man U during this time was the former also but success on the pitch seemed more important to Neville than the trappings of that success.

I dont read a lot of books but this was an awesome and interesting read. Gary Neville shows what is too be a True Red and how it feels for one of the young boys from the region to play for the biggest club in the World. Gary has an amazing knowledge of the game and other aspects related to it, which also makes a great TV Pundit. He covers all his years at United right from youth sqaud, thru the treble, diasspointment with England, Fergies influence on his fliedligns, his friends and heroes like becks, cantona, ronaldo, wazza.
An Awesome and Must Read for all Football fans & true Manchester United fans !
HASH(0x947fec18) von 5 Sternen Good story of an excellent player 14. Januar 2012

Gary Neville was a united regular for almost 20 years, and this book covers his time well. He offers interesting insights into the players he played with, and isn't afraid to say things that might not be well received. It is clear that he will never say a cross word about sir Alex however. He has a great opinion on why England doesn't succeed on the international level, while their club teams are the class of the world. All in all, it's a must read for the united faithful, and I would recommend for any casual fan, or person just getting into the port, because Neville is truely a fan of the game.
HASH(0x947fefe4) von 5 Sternen A good read from a very honest and passionate professional 9. Juli 2013

If you're looking for a book that covers secret gambling addictions, alcoholism, wags, groupies, partying and all the clichés attached to the young modern day, multimillionaire footballer then this book isn't for you. If you want to get an insight into what it takes to make it from the Sunday leagues of Manchester to being the captain of Manchester United then there probably isn't a better book. Gary describes the pivotal moments in his career with passion, emotion and detail and is never shy from stating his opinions. Any Manchester United fan should thoroughly enjoy reading it.
