The author did a great job of outlining topics of interest in image processing for cinema, and then proceeded to describe everything in the most confusing manner possible.. When he describes algorithms he will say something like "Step 1 - remove high frequency components from image". Well, that's great, but how exactly do you do that? He never shows example image matrices or example convolutions with actual numbers in them to convey his point, and there are very few illustrations of what exactly you are doing. For example, it is not difficult to understand deinterlacing from an image of multiple frames and some equations, but instead the author mainly just talks about the concept. I already know about these concepts, SHOW ME HOW. And show me how in algorithms with concise steps and DESCRIBE the actual steps with equations. There are plenty of images in the book, but they are mainly before and after images. Thanks but no thanks, because I already know what the image should look like if the artifact is gone!

I really wanted to like this book. Too bad. Especially too bad because the author has a background in electrical engineering and computer science, so I would expect a book that speaks to the algorithm writing audience.
