Kurzbeschreibung

We’re the D’Artigo sisters: savvy half-human, half-Fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Delilah is a two-faced werecat and a Death Maiden. Menolly is a vampire married to a gorgeous werepuma. And me? I’m Camille, a Moon witch married to three hunky husbands, and I’m about to journey through the veils to search for a long lost legend…

With the war in Otherworld raging, the Queen of Shadow and Night summons me to her court. Aeval orders me on a quest through the mists to find an ancient ally of hers. I am to seek out The Merlin and wake him from his long sleep. Surrounded by danger on all sides, with Morgaine and Bran along for the journey, I must pray they are allies rather than enemies, as we undertake a perilous search through the labyrinth of time…

"Priestess Dreaming" is the 16th book in the Otherworld Series. I have read and loved these books for years, but I can honestly say that I feel the series has run its course. It does not make me happy to feel this way because I truly love Yasmine Galenorn, and I love her Otherworld Series. I have read every single fiction book written by Ms. Galenorn, so I am a devoted fan. Until "Priestess Dreaming," I bought her books the day they came out, but the past several books in this series have been too meandering for me to get excited anymore. "Panther Prowling," the next entry into the series isn't even on my radar at this point, and that fact just makes me sad. I am making the same complaint that other readers have made over the last few years. The arc of the Spirit Seals is lost, and the books now seem to go nowhere.

In "Priestess Dreaming," Camille and company are sent off on a mission to find the Merlin. The Spirit Seals are an afterthought, and we are introduced to many new monsters. I feel like each book only serves to world build by introducing us to a bunch of new monsters. In the first chapter, we meet a Yeti, which is interesting, but I would also like something to develop the plot. There is a storyline, but I no longer know where the overarching plot is going. With each book, we are introduced to another big, bad character, and everyone bands together to fight it. I feel that it becomes tiring, which is why I have nothing more to even add to the review of the actual book.

This series might have been better served if Ms. Galenorn had wrapped up the Spirit Seals arc over several books and moved to another arc. It would even be interesting to move on to a new arc with different characters telling the story. Richelle Mead successfully pulled off that feat with her Vampire Academy series, and Rachel Vincent is doing the same things with her Shifters series. It's so difficult to keep a series running this long and keep it fresh. It's really impossible to be quite honest when I think of books like the Sookie Stackhouse series and the Kitty Norville series. I hope the Otherworld Series gets back on track because, despite my complaints, I love the characters and the author.

This time the coming war and the Spirit Seals take a back seat to an old and very dangerous threat. An ancient dragon is coming for Raven Mother. He feels she is in part, to blame for his long imprisonment.
Camille is sent into the land of the Elder Fae to find, The Merlin. Only the last true Merlin has a chance at stopping the threat that approaches. She's allowed to take 3 people with her, and forced to go with a few others that at best, she doesn't trust.
Along the way there is development with Camille, in regards to her role as a priestess, and Morio's role also changes and grows as well, though we are left in the dark in regards to him.
I enjoyed the story. Yasmine Galenorn is a wonderful spinner of these worlds. But I was left feeling a bit deflated with how easily the ancient dragon was defeated. It was over so fast, and the role The Merlin played in it was a bit too simple.
However, I love that the author isn't afraid to pull punches with her characters, as we lose someone close, someone not so close, and another runs off to be assumed lost. How and will he pop up later? Where? This mystery leaves your mind thinking long after the last page is read. One of Camille's husbands, Trillian, leaves to find his brother, missing in Otherworld after the chaos of the sentient storm.
As the group travels through the land of the Elder Fae, we are made privy to some more of this strange places machinations. Camille is swept up in the duties of her role, off on the hunt. Only this time, the hunt is real and she sweeps into a battle to scoop up the souls of soldiers. However she is destined to do a difficult thing when someone she loves is to be brought into the hunt by her.
Meanwhile, she does not disappoint on her steamy love scenes, her character building, and her ability to pull you out of your own world, and into that of the supernatural.
There are threads that are pulled in this novel, only to be left dangling. There were characters that were mostly dressing for this book, and others brought forth into the light. It's such a wild world of people, and creatures, if you don't pay attention you might find yourself overwhelmed.

Camille is my favorite sister! She has grown so much in character from the first book. Wyrms, dragons, elves, fae, mischievous pixies...this book has them all. The Triple Treat are back as well. King Author also makes an appearance. This book and series keeps me entertained! Couldn't put the book down!

I did enjoy this book a lot. I am a huge fan of all the books in this series. I am very attached to each of the sisters and all of those that they call family. The stories are always well written. I would normally have given a book in this series a 5 star rating. I can not tell you why I felt this only a 4 star read. While I enjoyed reading the book once, I do not think that I would re read it. And for me, to receive 5 stars, it would have to make me want to read it again and again. Is that being too tough?

I've been reading this series since the very first book came out and it just gets better and better. While I've read plenty of other series where major changes happen, those same series always end up losing what I loved about them in the first place. That has never been the case with this series. Big changes come, new challenges arise, but the characters always stay true. I feel like I know Camille, like she's my friend and it's not very often you find an author that brings to life characters so Nobel, honest, and real. Especially in fantasy.
