Watch the Award-Winning, science fiction Post-Human Short Film:
The future should have been perfect. Microscopic robots known as nans could repair any damage to your body, keep you young by resetting your cellular clocks, and allow you to download upgrades like intelligence, muscle strength, and eyesight. You were supposed to be able to have anything you wanted with a simple thought, to be able to fly without the aid of a machine, to be able to live forever. But when a small group of five terraformers working on Venus return to Earth, they discover that every other human in the solar system has been gruesomely murdered. Now, James Keats and his four companions must discover what happened to the rest of humanity and fight back if they wish to avoid the same, horrifying fate. Welcome to the post-human era.

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Amazon, just like the University of Toronto's Academic Bridging program, gave me the opportunity I needed to prove myself. Because of them, a runaway who had to sleep in a shopping cart at sixteen, a high-school dropout with seemingly no prospects, went on to live in the best city in the world, meet the best woman in the world and marry her, attain two degrees from one of the top forty universities in the world, before achieving his dream of being a full-time author and having one of the best-selling science fiction series in the world. 5.0 von 5 Sternen Would you rather be a 'pure' human or an immortal? 4. April 2017

This is my first book by Simpson and this type of genre, but now I am his biggest fan! He absolutely hit it out of the park with "Post-Human".
This was an incredible thought provoking plot that you think you have a solid grip on and then suddenly find that the reality is that you really don't have a clue as to where the plot is going. Simpson is a master of mis-direction with his plot development and execution.
I highly recommend this book and series to all readers as it kept me glued to my reader screen from page one to the end. I look forward to the next installment after reading the trailer at the end of this edition!

5.0 von 5 Sternen "Old timer" is a character that you feel like you have known all of your life 24. November 2015

Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
David Simpson - an author extraordinaire. He has taken today's science fiction and made it reality. His characters are well "fleshed out". You will believe that you are there experiencing what they are experiencing. "Old timer" is a character that you feel like you have known all of your life. You feel what he feels, I felt like I knew the words that "Old timer" was speaking before he spoke them (David is that good of a writer).

I am a long time Star Trek\Star Wars\Battlestar Gallactica (original series) fan. David Simpson has taken me away from these series, and breathed "new life" into the Sci-Fi genre. I eagerly await the rest of the books in this series as well as the rest of the books in his other series (Dawn of the Singularity).

4.0 von 5 Sternen Fresh, Crisp Sci-Fi! 6. September 2014

Post-Human has a great twist on the advanced technology theme in sci-fi. Taking our current facination with "wearable" technology to the extreme, humanity has left old-fashioned lifestyles behind. This has its own consequences.

The central character, James is compelling because he is a regular guy with some special skills that just wants to do his work. He doesn't want to be famous. But those very skills become critical to the survival of humanity, and make him famous.

This story does drag in a couple of places and the science is not solid, or maybe not solidly explained. But since this is fiction, cut the writer a break. Not every science fiction gadget will make it to the market a' la Gene Rodenberry's smartphones and tablets. Future reality of products is not essential to the story.

The only drawbacks to this story is the wimpiness of the women. Although they have great abilities, they are all looking for their knight in shining armor to rescue them or they want to mother someone. Women at this advanced level of intelligence will not be dependent ditzes. Man up the women in this series David.

This book was a real treat for me as I cannot remember any foul language or overt sexual content. I enjoyed the new world I entered and felt the author did a terrific job of making me part of his dream/fantasy world. Looking forward to reading more from him.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Step onto the human/AI threshold 25. Mai 2012
Von Tony Bertauski - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
What are the limits of technology? Why wouldn't we cure all diseases, control our nervous system, maximize our intelligence? What if these things were accomplished with cell-sized robots (which do exist in today's world) that are injected into our body, is there a threshold when be stop being human and become something else?

What does it mean to be human?

Simpson addresses all these questions in a futuristic civilization that's perhaps not too far off. Humans have mastered the physical environment and are terraforming other planets. Imagine the ability to fly with implanted magnetic levitation devices and not just on earth but the solar system. Where would we stop?

Simpson investigates the problem of an artificial intelligence that monitors all our technology. While this sort of thing has been done before (I, Robot; Matrix) he delves more into the human identity. If we're not our body, what are we? He sets up a nice conflict and stretches our imagination of what technological paradise awaits us. And its inherent problems.

With any science fiction novel, it can be difficult to adhere to modern day physics and suspension of disbelief is required in a few spots (the time dilation required when traveling to Venus and back). Nonetheless, I don't let this sort of thing become a distraction in an otherwise good story that makes me inquire into my own humanity.
