Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende
Dr. Paul Pimsleur devoted his life to language teaching and testing and was one of the world’s leading experts in applied linguistics. After years of experience and research, Dr. Pimsleur developed The Pimsleur Method based on two key principles: the Principle of Anticipation and a scientific principle of memory training that he called “Graduated Interval Recall.” This Method has been applied to the many levels and languages of the Pimsleur Programs.

It is easy to use since it requires no books and each lesson is only about thirty minutes long. It definitely helps to listen to each lesson at least twice a day. I suggest once in the morning and once in the evening.
It is a bit slow (boring) but the constant repetition really helps you remember. You are not memorizing but actively participating in a thirty minute conversation.
The course sparked enough interest for me that I then bought the full program. You can purchase the additional programs, five lessons at a time for your MP3/iPod off the companion website to Amazon.com, Audible.com.
You will speak without much of an accent and sound like you are from Rio.
The vocabulary is small but the structure of the language is there so you can insert new words as you learn them.
The hardest part of learning a language is speaking it and this programs works well on that part.
I went on to learn all of Phase 2 and I am currently working on Phase 3.
it taught you would not be terribly useful for someone just arriving in a country. Maybe some basic vocalbulary
just for starter and then give the full sentences. Like it didn't teach me till
lesson 9 how to say bathroom:) I have learned a lot though, this is my 3erd language. Spanish being my first
language, so that may have aided in my learning.
