I believe that Professor Armstrong's translation of Plotinus is the best available, with an excellent choice of selections from this unique and incomparable philosopher.
This eBook is a reasonably exact copy of the original book published in 1953 by George Allen & Unwin Ltd., except that the footnotes from the Introduction have been moved to the Endnotes section. The Table of Porphyry's Ennead Order has been modified for the digital format, while a second copy of this Table, with the Enneads in chronological order, has been added.
For convenience, a linked Table of Contents has been included, also links from Porphyry's Table to the respective passages. Facsimiles of the original title pages from the 1953 book have been retained. These can be seen by paging forward from the Table of Contents, or backward from the copyright page.
The original copyright was transferred to various subsequent publishers, and has finally reverted to the author, Professor A. H. Armstrong. Subsequently, Mr. Armstrong's son, heir, and literary executor, the Reverend Christopher Armstrong, has kindly granted permission for this digital version.
The eBook has been carefully checked, on an actual Kindle, against a physical copy of the book for mistakes, and also on Amazon's PC software simulator for the Kindle Fire, iPhone, and iPad. But if you find any errors, or if you have any suggestions for improvement, please indicate via email, and the corrections will be included in a revised edition.
