Holy s***, Kylie Scott, you did it again!!! I so loved "Lick" and already read it twice. Never thought you could top this but you totally did. Malcolm was one of my favorite people from the first book and I was so looking forward to his story. However, I never thought it would be such a fantastic read. I laughed, so much and so hard and then you made me cry and then laugh again. I think Mal will be one of my favorite book-boyfriends ever :-) I tried to read really really slow to drag it out because I kind of hate you for making me wait again for the next book and it isn't even Ben's story yet but Jimmy's *big pout* I do have hopes though that Ben's story includes Lizzy and she's the special woman mentioned in the book description. That would make up for the waiting. Well, never mind, I'm sure I will love Jimmy's story just as much.

Thank you so much for this awesome book which made my day!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Mal Beats a Rhythm Straight to My Heart! 25. März 2014
Von Amberlanae~Addicted Souls - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

The boys of Stage Dive are BACK! I have been so excited for this book. After reading Lick….and then meeting Kylie….joining her groupies & seeing all the Play teasers and excerpts that she shared, this book was definitely in my top 5 most anticipated reads of this year! I was NOT DISAPPOINTED!! It turned out better than I could have imagined.
Play is Malcolm ‘Mal’ Erickson’s story and is told from the point of view of Anne, who literally is the girl next door! Through some crazy circumstances Mal moves in with Anne and convinces her to play his pretend Girlfriend until the band goes on tour. Anne agrees….and why not?! Mal is HOT, she has had a crush on him for FOREVER and more importantly…she needs the money. Mal is his totally over the top self, which is a great counterpart for Anne’s stick in the mud ways. Mal & Anne have great chemistry and interactions. They are HILARIOUS! I really loved the texting back and forth, the sly innuendos, Mal talking about the size of his ‘stick’, the bathtub scene…..ok not going to lie….I loved the whole damn book!
Here is the part that surprised me, Mal has a soft side. A vulnerable side, that he is trying to desperately hide from Anne and his band mates. The problem….Anne. She will not let him hide part of himself away. This is when the story gets angsty. Mal is dealing with some serious things….it causes him to be a bit manic and drink too much (which is totally understandable). I love that he uses his drums to center himself. I love that he also learns to lean on Anne, who is an amazingly supportive person. Of course there are mistakes made along the way, conclusions drawn that hurt feelings (what book would be good without these things?) but Anne & Mal start to realize that there may be more between them then just a pretend relationship.
BONUS! There is a lot of David & Evelyn in this book! Not only a lot of sexy time between the two, but some surprising revelations. We also get to see more of Jimmy and his interaction with David and the rest of the band….not to mention Ben who is definitely the strong silent type.
All in all this was a FUN read. Kylie Scott knows how to write a story that keeps moving forward, keeps the reader interested & laughing. Her character development is incredible! As the series progresses you learn more and more about the boys of Stage Dive and that is one journey I am excited to be a part of.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Life is a song. 25. März 2014

I was gifted a copy in exchanged for my honest opinion.

So if I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. Probably 10 or more. It was probably the funniest and most entertaining book I have ever read. No joke. I tried sooo hard to read this book slow. I did NOT want it to end. I seriously hope Kylie writes more Mal. I want to read Lizzy's story though. But I need more Mal. I love the other band mates and I LOVED Lick and David. But Mal is my favorite. He is CRAZY, fun, funny, eccentric, loving, sweet, caring, gentle, hot. He is the WHOLE package! Anne is just as weird and I LOVED her!! perfect for Mal. We got to see more about Stage Dive and of course that was fun and entertaining this group is amazing and such a great group to have as friends. I honestly did not think I would love this more than Lick. But I did and you will to. I promise! I will read this over and over and over. Especially if you are having a bad day, this helps! it helped me! Kylie Scott knows how to write an odd ball fairy tale. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Let's get to the story. A little I can give.

We meet Anne a girl who is odd and damaged and just found out her roommate screwed her over. She decides to head on over to a Stage Dive party with her friends and she meets the fun loving Malcolm Ericson. Right away Mal see's Anne is hurt and shows her a kindness she has not felt in awhile and also showed her how utterly insane he is lol. Just what the doctor ordered. They have a good time and she walks away a tiny piece of her stays with Mal. Mal needs a place to stay and he decides to move on in with Anne, since she also needs a roommate. These two hit it off and start seeing each other. But they both have pasts, demons and secrets. Mal also goes on tour in not long. Can these two actually have a relationship? or will their secrets ruin everything? you will have to read to find out. And just read because it's Mal and Stage Dive and it's the funniest and one of the best books ever ;-) that alone is reason enough.

"Life's a song, Anne. Let's Play. "

"When are you on the rag? Davie said to find out if you want cupcakes or ice cream." (LMAO )

"A real man knows when his woman is knocked up, Jimbo. I don't expect you to understand."

Sweet Jesus Mal I've missed your a**, "yeeah, your name," he drawled. "The point of me telling you my name, even when you already knew it, was so you'd give me yours. That's how these things go." I mean a drunk Mal is just something else, "liar," he taunted in a soft voice. "You're totally thinking of me with no pants on." And the text messages he sends to Ann sweet lord I have to give the girl props for putting up with that, "when are you on the rag? David said to find out if you want cupcakes or ice cream." He's fiercely protective, "you woke her, a**wipe." For once, Mal didn't sound the least bit light and easy as he gave Reece hell. "Do you have any idea how stressful s***'s been for her lately? Plus she had to work late last night." I have to say I enjoyed Mal's book more than David's probably because of all the playfulness that is Mal, "nonsense. We just effed so hard we broke your bed. They wish they were us. The natural order of sexual status has been restored." We both laughed. It was all so ridiculous." I mean he sometimes does have to straighten things out with Ann, "you want a song? No problem. I'll ask Davie to write you one later." He put a hand to either side of the bathroom doorway. "I know you wanted to go for it last night. But I wanted you sober. Now you are. I want you. You want me. Let's eff." And when Mal is disoriented it is damn hilarious, "why'd you put my hand down your panties while I was asleep? What's that about?" he mumbled. "Christ woman. You're out of control. I feel violated." Can't wait to see whose next in this series.

5.0 von 5 Sternen LOVED IT!!! 27. März 2014

I absolutely love Mal! He's such a sweetheart. He comes across as being this hot, sexy, fun life-of-the party rock star, while underneath he's this sensitive, caring, romantic man. You knew the minute he met Anne that he liked her. Anne has always had a crush on the drummer of Stage Dive. She can hardly form a word when Mal first talks to her. She goes to a party after having a bad day because her roommate has moved out still owing her money. The party is at David and Ev's condo and the rest of the band is there too. Anne isn't in the best of moods, she's broke, depressed and just not happy. Mal over hears her on the phone talking about her roommate leaving and he decides he's moving in. Anne and Mal talk some at the party and he jokes about him moving in with her and them being together forever, but she assumes he's just drunk. The next day, she gets home from work and he's there, in her apartment where he's moved in furniture. Now the fun begins!!! Pretend or not pretend relationship....You'll have to read to see.

Anne and Mal are so perfect together. Both have something that's bothering them, but when they are together, they both feel better. Their conversations are funny and entertaining. I loved getting to see all the other members of the band. Ben is funny. I have a feeling we might be seeing Anne's little sister Lizzy again around him. And Jimmy's out of rehab, but still having some issues. The relationship with the band is like a family of brothers and really special.

Both Lick and Play are great books with great characters and are fun to read. I'm looking forward to the next one, Lead, scheduled for release later this summer.

Where to start. I guess the way the whole book begins had me sucked in. Anne got screwed over by her best friend / roommate and instead of crying getting all emotional why not go to a rockstar filled party. Mal calling her out in the first scene that they meet as a doormat was one of my favorite scenes in any book. They way that she reacts changes her whole personality for the rest of the novel. Mal is hilarious and carefree but living with a secret that is destroying him. I love mal and Anne's relationship. It starts off so weird and dysfunctional but somehow is the best thing that has ever happened to either of them. At one point I looked at the percentage and I was at 33 then I looked again and was at 70. I was so upset because that meant I was almost done. This is one of my favorite rock star series and Mal was amazing!!! I cannot wait for Jimmy and Ben's stories!
