One thing I did notice that I had missed at first, I do not have the complete second book. In volume one, part of The Marvelous Land of Oz is missing and was replaced with The Road to Oz. Volume two has The Road to Oz and it is the complete story. When you get the collection, check to see that all volumes have the complete books in them.
However, when reading the book, I realized whole sections of chapters were missing and other book sections were in their place! Very poor publishing!
I've gone through and physically verified that all the chapters in this collection (volume One only) line up with the pdf google images of the first editions of volume One of this collection, the first three stories:The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Marvelous Land of Oz, and Ozma of Oz. I did not verify all the volumes, because the complaints were with the first volume and I saw no indication of misprinting or missing chapters. Maybe they have corrected this with newer printings, but it's hard for me to believe with a publisher like Simon & Schuster they would put out a product that is as flawed as some are saying.
There are no visuals, that's true, and probably hurts the collection some. But the stories are all there, from what I can see. So I'm pleased with this collection. It would be cool if the Library of America took on this project, as that would be a great edition to their collection of American literature.
