I have read a lot of books on Einstein and his work, Damour has this wonderful touch of explaining these "difficult subjects" in an understandable way, my only grip is there is no index (which is a crime), but it does have great notes at the end of the book.
Damour's discussion of "Elastic-Space Time" is brilliant, which includes discussions of the meaning of "tensors" and the notations of tensors "guv," "Tuv," and "Ruv."
I disagree with some of the things Damour says, such as his discussion of Godel's cosmos, where "time can turn around on itself." (page 95). But these are minor.
