Well worth both the time and money in my opinion. The modern church in most all its traditional forms is fragmented and without measurable love both within and without. We go along with the flow almost afraid to admit nothing magical or better stated supernatural ever occurs in our own life or in any other person in our local gathering but hope keeps alive in the distant stories of some other soul in some other place who GOD has touched , suspending the laws of nature for that rarest moment in time. This author breaks free of the dreary pack of sheep and searches the Word of GOD afresh and honestly and I believe breaks new ground or better yet breaks free of dead tradition to encourage seekers who wish to seek the pearl of great price and lay down that all hold most dear for a better thing. Rather than letting it hold them to this dying ball as an anchor holds a ship to its doom amidst the storm of all storms. Be the wise virgins beloved and be invited to the greatest feast of all followed by the job you were perfectly made to do, one that pays in eternal treasures.

What drew me to this book was how big it thought. I've been somewhat dissatisfied with each of the systems of Bible understanding I've encountered (Reformed, Arminian, Church of Christ and what I've seen of Catholic), but was okay with the one I stuck with because it seemed the best at the time. I was willing to apply patches to the system to keep it working. The patches involved stretching verses to make everything fit into the framework of the old system. This book establishes a new system. You can't pick out one part of the book to understand without reading much of the rest of the book. While reading this book, I kept on thinking "Oh yeah... that verse! I've wondered about that. That makes sense." I was glad someone was taking all those verses seriously.

You may be afraid to purchase this because it's clearly self-published and long. Those were some of the concerns I had. Indeed, it has (as of the edition I bought in Dec. 2012) a number of spelling errors and a degree of repetitiveness (which can be good or bad). Self-published often means that someone wanted to be published but wasn't good enough or was saying crazy things, but this is not the case here. Except that perhaps the people who publish Christian books wouldn't want to take a chance on a whole new system, and secular publishers wouldn't recognize its value. As to length, I will say that I am glad it was long, because it takes time to get used to the author's ideas.

To me, the most exciting idea in the book is that we can be made perfect through the Holy Spirit in this life, that we'll have to be made perfect through a process of sanctification in this life or the next, that I might as well start now.

Hungering for truth? New Wine for the End Times is an in depth study of Scripture viewed from the perspective of Jewish eschatology. Thinking like the ancient Jews did about the messianic prophecies is key for understanding the nature of salvation, the Church, and the program of God in the world. Passage by passage and verse by verse, Philip Brown leads us through an examination of Scripture relating to doctrines that have puzzled and divided the Church for centuries, such as Calvinism vs. Arminianism, Universalism, Purgatory, and much more. He challenges some of our preconceived, long held, traditional ways of thinking. This book is not for the timid who prefer to stay in their comfortable, familiar, but unbiblical theology. Be prepared to think outside of the box you keep God in. The study is thorough, faithfulness to Scripture is solid, challenge to maturity in Christ is strong and deep, but only four stars because the writing is not up to the highest of standards. Occasionally it seems redundant, some will complain that it is not a scholarly work because footnotes and references are few, but this is well worth the reading for any Christian who is serious about understanding God's Word.

Two years ago I wrote the above review of New Wine for the End Times on Amazon.com. I gave the book five stars then, but because of my continuing search for truth, I have changed my mind. What I said about the book itself is still true, but my statements concerning its value were colored by my viewpoint on Christianity. The work is indeed thorough and unconventional. However, it is based on a literal method of interpretation which fails to take into account the meaning of parables and allegories (Galatians 3:22-24) contained in God's Word. Just as in reading an allegorical story, the Bible will be misunderstood if you only pay attention to the surface meaning. Brown is paying attention only to the surface story of the Bible. Further, its approach to prophecy is largely dispensational and includes the Raelian belief that aliens are responsible for the beginning of life, or at least intelligent life on Earth. He is expecting Jesus to return in a space ship. For Bible believers who are sincerely interested in truth, I say don't waste your time on this book, but rather learn a better understanding of Bible truth from voiceofelijah.org Thinking like an ancient Jew is not the key to understanding the Bible. Thinking like the apostles is.

This presentation of a group of three types of people (wise, foolish, wicked) is new to me but I must say there are some very interesting points made through Scriptures the author brought out. Certainly thought-provoking and worth some more study and prayer and revelation.
