“Murder in Chelsea by Victoria Thompson has suspense, murder, great invigorating characters, a touch of love and romance, a child of love, and a ‘who done it’ that had me turning the pages very quickly, it was hard to put this book down! Victoria Thompson is the crème de la crème of mystery writers and I look forward to reading many more of her Gaslight Mysteries.”—Fresh Fiction
“An intense, well-plotted puzzler that will keep you turning the pages.”—RT Book Reviews

I guess I have been waiting for this book since Sarah met the little girl and fell in love with her but I never ever saw the events of this book coming. I believe this book is the best in the whole series! Once I started it, I could hardly put it aside and so I ended reading it just a few hours. I was always wondering if there is a happy ending for Sarah and Frank and you will have to read this book to get all the answers to your open questions - I will never tell and spoil your adventure! And and adventure it was to read this book..
There are many characters in this book I came to despise but it was again interesting to watch Felix Decker. The man starts to grown on me I have to admit and after so many books I really start to like him. The way he acts with Frank in this book makes me wonder how he was with Tom, Sarah's deceased husband. He seems to start to like Frank, dare I say to grow fond of him?! Maybe that's to far stretched but seeing them work together in this book was really nice and it makes me wondering what we will get to see in the next books.
This book was by far the best book of this series - it was funny, exciting and the case itself was really a page-turner. Nothing like the books 11-13 which I found nice but nothing special. Hope the next book is as good as this one!

I was anticipating Felix Decker either arranging a transfer or a promotion which could have lead to the same thing. Thompson`s deft handling of the final few scenes now sets up more questions from me - mainly, "Now what happens to Frank?" Does he stay with the Police or does he move on to something else - private detective? Staying in his present station clearly has a potential for problems for Frank, especially since his patron Theodore Roosevelt is now busy in Washington getting the Navy ready to earn it`s pay. In a couple of years TR is back in New York, stil a little smoke stained from battle but ready to be the State - is there a role for Frank in Albany? I see this story as a potential spring board for both Sarah and Frank - now that Frank`s life seems to be taking off, can Sarah keep up? I`m sure she will but it won`t be easy as Frank makes new adjustments to his life - remember he has a son as well that he still must take care of, not to mention Mrs. Malloy. I think the stories from now on will be more complex than they have been to date -@which certainly keeps the interest level at high boil.
Naturally, Sarah turns to her friend (and hopefully more,) Det. Sgt. Frank Molloy to help her keep Catherine. When the nursemaid who had given up Catherine to the 'mission house,' turns up and then is found stabbed to death, the urgency of keeping Catherine's location and foster family's name hidden increases.
This tale involves murder, hidden identities, greed, mortality, and more. It is a tale that keeps you turning the pages as you hold your breath over Catherine's safety and future.
The ending is a whopper. The Author's note should be read at the ending , rather than my 'peeking' at the beginning. Be good and read it properly. I can hardly wait to read the next volume.
The story was good and now the Mysterious Catherine has had all of her mysteries solved. Maybe she can get on with her life now, poor thing. I wonder if she has little nieces and nephews to play with. (If it was mentioned I was a spaz and totally missed it.)
The subplot about female on male violence was appreciated.
Good God, Mrs. Malloy! The poor woman will teeter over and DIE!
I'm sad that there will not be a teenage!Brian/Catherine in love sub-plot in the future :( However, now the two have oodles of time to plot together. May God have mercy on anyone in that household LOL!
So now the questions arise:
Where will they live?
Is Malloy going to quit working all together or will he open his own investigative agency?
Will he be forced to become Sarah's assistant? Ha ha! (Because you KNOW she's not going to quit working.)
Will Malloy finally have time to learn sign language?
Will Mrs. Malloy drive all the maids completely insane?
Will Mrs. Decker drive Mrs. Malloy insane?
Will they turn into the wonder-duo and get into more trouble than all of the rest of them combined?
AAAHHH! I need the next book!!
