5.0 von 5 Sternen Uplifting, practical read for every mother 18. März 2014
Von T. Price - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
First, I do not give 5-star book ratings lightly...like ever. Many would find this to be a 5-star book, I'm just super stingy with my stars!

[UPDATE: Changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars. The more I read, the more I realized this is a 5-star book. I'm three-quarters of the way through now and still really enjoying it. Most articles/chapters take about 5 minutes to read. OK, continue with original review...]

I am currently halfway through reading this book but I wanted to take the time to write a quick review to let others know how valuable this book has already been for me. I'm a mom, so it may take me a while to get through reading it all, but I didn't want you all to have to wait until I've finished to hear about it!

Power of Moms, the organization behind this book, is a wonderful online community with uplifting and practical advice and support for "deliberate" mothers--mothers who think critically about how they mother and try to give their best as often as possible (no one is perfect!). This book is a compilation of the best articles the Power of Moms community of mothers has shared online. Each chapter is one article, so they are very easy to read and finish in a short chunk of time (10 min or less). The articles/chapters are grouped into several, meaningful sections so you can jump around from section to section and read what interests you, or read the book from beginning to end.

As valuable as each article is, I think it's the questions and challenges listed at the end of each article that make the messages of this book stand out. So often I'm inspired by something I read...but I'm inspired only for a moment. Sometimes nothing changes in my life, even if change is what I had hoped for after finishing the article. At the end of each article in this book is a thought-provoking question to get you thinking about how the message of the article fits into your life. In addition to the question, there is also a "challenge" prompt that is meant to inspire you to take action and make a difference in your life in a meaningful way. Spend as much or as little time as you want (or have!) to consider the question and tackle the challenge.

This is not a "do this to be a great mom" or "don't to that" book. This is a supportive, loving, gently guiding book to help all of us moms appreciate everything we do do right, and see what things we can change, that we actually want to change, so that we can be even happier.

This is a great resource and I think all mothers would benefit from reading it...I plan on having my husband read it when I'm finished too!

*Note: I was given a free ebook version of this book for review purposes, but the opinions of the review are entirely my own.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Much-needed Inspiration 26. März 2014
Von Catherine Arveseth - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I am one of the contributors to the book, so yes, I'm a bit biased. But yesterday, I sat down to read through some of the chapters. And I found myself getting emotional over the words and ideas, even though I've read them before. This says to me, that the book is full of life-truths that will bless moms everywhere. Most helpful I think is the redefining of social media's concept of a "good mom." This book will help moms see their strengths and how to utilize them in their mothering. It will help moms realize they are (and always have been) the right mother for their children. It will help them appreciate more moments, be present, and better enjoy the journey of motherhood. As we take this message to more and more mothers, we can create a force of women who, rather than compare skill sets and accomplishments, sustain and encourage one another. Something I believe the world and our children need.

5.0 von 5 Sternen An Encouraging Read for Mothers Everywhere 22. März 2014
Von Lindsey Bell - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Motherhood Realized is an encouraging read for mothers everywhere. The book is divided into 4 sections (all of which are topics moms need to read about!):

1. Becoming Our Best Selves
2. Getting Through Hard Times
3. Shifting Our Perspectives
4. Savoring Moments

The entire book is a collection of favorite posts that originally appeared on the Power of Moms blog. One thing I absolutely love about the book is that it is easily digestible. Moms are busy people, so it's hard to find time to read a long chapter in a book. Because this particular book is a collection of short (but powerful!) blog posts, the chapters are do-able for even the busiest of moms.

Each chapter concludes with a reflection question and a challenge to help moms apply the theme to their lives.

I have loved the Power of Moms blog for years, but if it's possible, I think I love this book even more. It's provided a one-stop-spot for some of the best posts about motherhood.

*I received this book for review, but all opinions are my own.

5.0 von 5 Sternen By far my favorite "parenting" book 28. März 2014

This isn't parenting advice and stories from doctors or physiologists. It is from real life mothers. Every word was motivational and inspiring. This book moved me in so many ways.

3.0 von 5 Sternen This is a sweet read with some very experiences of Motherhood contained within 13. April 2015
Von Ananda Hensley - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
This is a sweet read with some very experiences of Motherhood contained within. I did enjoy it and it had some great moments. HOWEVER, there is one aspect of the book that was a turn off for me....... there were enough repeated references to prayer, church, etc that it came across to me as a veiled compilation of something more like Christian Motherhood Realized. Not that I really have anything against Christianity perse, though I am myself agnostic and don't appreciate religiousness being rammed down my throat in any way, shape or form. The religious references are not overwhelming and can be overlooked, which is what I did. Though I bought this as a gift for a best friend, who is also agnostic, and I was also concerned as to how she would feel about the religious references. All this being said, I would not rule out the book for the abovementioned reasons. I only would have liked to know what I was getting into.
