Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Stephen Cosgrove is one of the best-selling children’s book authors of all time. His writing career began in 1973. At the time, he was working as vice-president of an investment company. Shopping at bookstores for his three-year-old daughter, he was frustrated by the dearth of fun-to-read picture books that also convey positive values. Consequently, he decided to write his own stories. Teaming with Seattle illustrator Robin James, Cosgrove went on to create four titles that became the foundation of his best-selling Serendipity series, which have sold over 80 million copies worldwide. Since then, he has written more than 300 books, some under his own name and others using pseudonyms, ranging from picture books to young adult thrillers. His complete works have sold close to 100 million copies. Mr. Cosgrove has been honored by Idaho State Legislators for career achievement and has won the Coors Lumen Award for family values. He is also the winner of multiple Children’s Choice Awards. He lives in Austin, TX.

Robin James is a gifted illustrator and a native of the Pacific Northwest. She has loved art and animals all her life and has been drawing ever since she could hold a pencil. Through the years, she has created a wide variety of artwork from animal portraits to wildlife paintings and has illustrated over 75 children's books, and is published worldwide. She lives in Snohomish, WA.

HASH(0x97d0c90c) von 5 Sternen Best Book Ever!! 16. März 2003
Von Ceci - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I bought this book when I was in 3rd grade, it made me cry then and it makes me cry now! This book is great for kids as well as grown ups. The lesson in this book teaches about having material things at the expense of those we love. Good thing Yew learns the lesson and is able to fix it! In this day in age I am glad they are bringinning these books back. Not only will your child be reading, but learning a very important lesson. Not many books today do that! If you decide to purchase this book you won't regret it and there is a whole series of them, but this one is my favorite!

HASH(0x97d0c960) von 5 Sternen A lesson for young children about envy. 14. August 2000
Von Lisa Ebeling - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Bibliothekseinband
A dumpy little sheep named Yew wishes he could have a unicorn's horn like his best friend Morgan so that he can feel special instead of ordinary. When the Morning Star grants Yew's wish, he wears the horn for one day, but at the cost of his friend Morgan: the unicorn is gone! After crying of guilt and loneliness all night long, Yew pleads with the Morning Star to restore things to normal. After Morgan comes back to him and the horn is returned to the unicorn, the two friends play together forever and Yew never again envies his best friend.
Even very young children "get" the message in this book. It's been around for years--I even used it while doing my student-teaching more than 15 years ago. With bright, colorful illustrations and sweet characters, this book is a perennial favorite for primary school students.

HASH(0x97d0cd98) von 5 Sternen Still makes me cry 20. Dezember 2001
Von Julia - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
This was the Serendipity book I saved for special, cathartic occasions in my childhood when I had to have a good tearing-up. Possibly the most excellent and moving of the series, with the same beautiful illustrations.

HASH(0x97d10180) von 5 Sternen An ageless story about friendship. 1. Dezember 1999
Von Ein Kunde - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Bibliothekseinband
This story is about a beautiful unicorn named Morgan and ordinary sheep called Yew. Although they love each other so, Yew feels inferior to Morgan's beauty. Yew wonders how Morgan could love him when he feels so ugly about himself. One day Yew comes to Morgan and shares his feelings. Because Morgan loves Yew so, he offers the one thing he has Yew feels would make himself beautiful. Yet as a result he must say good-by to Morgan. Yew misses Morgan so much, he realizes he loves his friend so much more than how he appears to himself. Love abounds in the end!

HASH(0x97d0cef4) von 5 Sternen the pinnacle of childhood reading 18. Dezember 2006
Von Owen Bondono - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I was raised on the Serendipity Books, and this was always my favorite. Not only is this book still touching and beautiful, it holds a special place in my heart, being the first book I learned to read. To this day, even as an adult, it is a comfort to go back and revisit this old favorite after a hard day.

I highly recommend this book for any parent or teacher.
