It was messy and not good structure...most of the tips where obsolete...many places named in text and not remarked in Maps, info non coherence (Describing a nice beach to visit, and later remarking that it is private property and not possible to access)...THe Hikes and trails are described as EXTREME HARD and we did it with no problems, etc...
In relation to campgrounds (or travelling with a tent in general) there were also some wrong statements (e.g. free camping, which is not allowed) and completely different prices. This issue is from 2015, we have 2016 now. I can't imagine that there was a price increase of about 100% within 1 year.
The chapter of Kaua'i was better, at least not as "paranoid" as the chapter of Big Island. We did not need the other chapters, so we can't say something about them.
I'm wondering why such a big publisher like Lonely Planet does not involve local authors for its travel guides.

I like the layout of the book, and the chapters are organized well. They provide detailed information but also some very helpful tips. I marked it down 1-star because the print is light, small and difficult to read unless you are in bright light.
I used to rely on Frommer's or Fodor's but have recently moved to Lonely Planet series for their no-nonsense informative guides.
