This book was advised to me a couple of years ago by an American lady when I was researching ice cream making and ice cream machines. I was living in France back then, bought a Krups ice cream maker and a few books and had a huge success and fun making ice cream. Fast forward to today I am getting divorced, living in Cardiff, Wales and thinking of starting a small scale, inspirational B&B and cooking and ice cream making will be part of it! I have recently offered myself a birthday present in the form of an ice cream maker (Lakeland) and came across this book in a charity shop, so I decided to finally buy it. I loved Morfudd's enthusiasm and sense of adventure. She is someone I can envision being friends with, someone who really goes for it and gets the most out of life! The whole book is awfully interesting but I would like more photos, especially of the Sunday's but of all the ice creams in general because being a photographer I find the visual side of things very important! I have read the book from cover to cover but I haven't tried any recipes yet. Some of the ingredients won't be easy to find though but I will do my best. Herbs like Lemon Balm and Lemon Verbena can't be found in the shops anymore, unfortunately so you probably have to grow your own, so I will try to find some seeds. Some of the ice creams are not at all main stream so although there are a number of recipes of flavours you will know you need to be a bit adventurous to get the most out of this book but other than that I think that my ice cream maker is going to be working overtime and my friends need to come often to sample all the goodies! There is a lot of information on equipment and also on the chemistry side of things although I am more interested in the results than how they come about.Lesen Sie weiter... ›

All in all I think that this book is surely worth buying. If you want to read some other reviews I wrote on other ice cream books just go on my page and search for them. I tried a number of recipes and all were good. She is definitely more of an artisan ice cream maker so the process can take a little time but definitely worth it. She is from the UK so be prepared to weigh and convert but I haven't found that to be a problem. She refers to caster sugar in her recipes which we call superfine sugar in the US - you can find it in grocery stores but may need to try a few stores for availability.
