Die DVD hat viele Kratzer, wodurch es unmöglich ist, diese zu gucken. Das selbe Problem hab ich auch mit zwei weiteren Teilen (habe alle direkt zusammen bestellt.) Würde ich nie wieder machen, und kann ich absolut nicht weiter empfehlen. Das ist rausgeschmissenes Geld.

Mir ist nicht bewusst, zu welchem Genre KUWTK gehört abseits jenem überstrapazierten der Reality-Formate - wenn ich es jedoch klassifizieren dürfte, dann wäre es Comedy wider Willen. Und das kommt so: Kim Kardashian (Starlet, aus einer Millionärsfamilie stammend, heiratete früh, ließ sich kurz darauf scheiden, began damit, beruflich die Kleiderschränke anderer Berühmtheiten zu organisieren, wurde zeitweilig beste Freundin von Paris Hilton, drehte ein Sexvideo) nutzt genau diesen Höhepunkt ihrer Karriere (intendierter Wortwitz), um mit ihrer Momanagerin (geschützter Markenname) den Deal für eine Reality-Serie über ihre Familie abzuschließen.

Hier setzt "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" an, wohlgemerkt ist das Endresultat eine Staffel ohne nennenswerte Ereignisse, die nichtsdestotrotz doch irgendwie... unterhaltsam ist. Die Handlung orientiert sich am Alltag der Großfamilie Kardashian/Jenner, im Fokus liegen in dieser Staffel noch die verschlungenen Karriere- und Lebenswege der drei Kardashianschwestern Kourtney, Kim und Khloe. Man merkt dem Format an, dass es teilweise gescriptet ist, dazu leider von den Darstellern ziemlich talentfrei umgesetzt, allerdings sind die der Dramaturgie einer Fernsehsendung angepassten Ereignisse mitunter auch eklatant amüsant und regen zumindest zur Schadenfreude an. Über die Staffeln hinweg entwickelt man auch zwangsläufig Sympathien zu einzelnen Familienmitgliedern (die teils sarkastisch, teils selbstironisch das Geschehen kommentieren) und schaut die Serie irgendwann doch mit Freude und Interesse, weil die Nichtigkeiten, die bei den Kardashians schon Katastrophen auslösen, eine nette Abwechslung zum Alltag sind.

Ein Stern Abzug für die augenscheinliche Oberflächlichkeit und Plattheit der Sendung, der man sich bewusst sein muss. KUWTK ist kein Lehrstück, es ist nicht sonderlich herausragend produziert, es produziert beim Sehen keinen Mehrwert für den Zuschauer, aber man wird unterhalten - und das kann man für 3 € für die ganze Staffel bei diversen Marketplacehändlern durchaus für ein gutes Geschäft halten.

OK, I am nearly 50, I read the Guardian and kept reading about Kim Kardashian and her bottom and her fame and her marriage and her advertising deals. I could no longer pretend not knowing who she was so I ordered series one to see what all this fuss was about. I must say it is very entertaining and it sums up everything which is wrong with a large part of our society. Future historians will write about this phenomenon, no doubt. One series was enough for me. She will go far and so will her sisters who in series 1 are the same age my my own kids now. They are a very privileged family and have a great talent for marketing and spin. But now I've seen what this is all about, I am happy to continue reading the Guardian and focus on other issues in life.

This is another of those programms that hook you in and you cannot look away. I don't know how I get myself into these things, but this one is fun and light and addictive.
Kim is really only famous for being a friend (ex?) of Paris Hilton and I don't know what else for ... however, now with this show, she's getting more recognition (even though she's off DWTS). This show focuses mainly on her, and then her other K sisters Kourtney and Khloe. They are actually a very likeable family and not quite as ditzy as you'd think. This is only a short season, but you get a good idea about their life and I can't wait to see season 2.
This is the way this season pans out.
1 - I'M WATCHING YOU - The family throws an anniversary party for Mom and Dad, while Kim talks about her s.x tape on the Tyra show.
2 - MANAGING MOM - Kris hires a nanny to help around the house, while Kim contemplates firing her mom as her manager.
3 - BRODY IN THE HOUSE - Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Frances gets the Kardashian gals to model his new bikini line, while Brody Jenner babysits the kids.
4 - BIRTHDAY SUIT - Kim bares her bootylicious body for a Playboy spread.
5 - REMEMBERING DAD - As the anniversary of her dad's death approaches, Khloe stars to spiral out of control.
6 - YOU ARE SO PREGNANT DUDE - The girls set out for Sin City. Kourtney gets the results of a pregnancy test.
7 - HELPING HAND - The family takes in a homeless man, and Rob goes on a date with a Playboy Playmate.
8 - THE PRICE OF FAME - Another s.x scandal rocks the Kardashian household.
While these girls aren't the ideal role models for kids out there, if you treat this as fluff and not the way you'd like to live your life, then this show is fine. I enjoy it purely for the entertainment factor and as I said, the family as a whole is likeable. I love their quaint house and the love you see that they all share. It's a great escapism show and I really like it.

Keeping up with the Kardashians is one of those reality shows that you know you shouldn't like - but you just can't help yourself!

Some of the story lines are ridiculously unbelievable, the amount of money they seem to have is ludicrous, and the things they seem to find important make you shake your head in disbelief.

However, Keeping up with the Kardashians never fails to amuse me. The things Kourtney and Khloe get up to trying to wind Kim up, along with Bruce's failed attempts at maintaining some order to the household always crack me up. And at the end of each episode things somehow all tie together making for a cheesy ending that still manages to put a smile on my face!

After you get over the immediate absurdness of it all you will find yourself loving Keeping up with the Kardashians. Definitley a guilty pleasure!
