Format: Taschenbuch
The book studies the development and use of heavy tanks by the USSR during WW2. The main tank used was the KV-1 and its numerous derivatives, a machine which the Germans found impossible to destroy during the early years of the war. The KV series were replaced by the JS series of heavy tanks and this is also indicated in Mr Zaloga's book.I found the book interesting because it gave some insight into Soviet defence planning during wartime. There are also photographs of prototype tanks which have never been usedand never published before. This is no doubt the result of the changed international environment. I found this book interesting and full of facts and the colour plates, photograghs and line drawings good illustrations of the subject of the book.

HASH(0x97008444) von 5 Sternen KV1- yes, KV2 - not so much! 25. Mai 2006
Von D. W. Huron - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
There is not much that I can add to the already exisiting reviews except to state that the book centers around the KV 1. While it offers some text about the KV 2 it offers only 3 pictures of the KV 2 and none of the illustrations deal with the KV 2. All the illustrations revolve around the KV 1 (that's 7 plates of illustrations). So if you are into Russian tanks and especially the KV 1, this may be the book for you. If you're a KV 2 fan, then look elsewhere and do not waste your money here.
HASH(0x9700d084) von 5 Sternen The Book on the Most Popular Early "Heavy" Russian-Built Tanks of the Second World War is Reviewed 10. Juli 2015
Von Brian Wayne Wells - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

This is a great review of the early Russian-built tanks which were used in the early battle of the Second World War. This is the first book that I have had which reviewed the early Russian-built heavy tanks--the models KV-1 and KV-2 tanks. My interest in the Russian-built tanks extends forward into the later stages of the Second World War. and backwards into the Winter War with Finland and the campaigns against the Imperial Japanese forces and Khalin Gol in 1939 and Lake Hasan in 1938. The KV-1 tanks were used in the Winter War against Finland in 1940.

HASH(0x9700df24) von 5 Sternen Klimentei Voroshilovs tanks!!! 14. Februar 2001
Von Gavin Phillips - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I found this book very informative on a series of thanks that fascinates me. It offers some new pictures, diagrams and data that Ive never seen before and thats always a welcome thing to have. The book itself is well written and takes a stage-by-stage look at the evolution of Soviet tank designs with the Land Battleships and how the Finish War saw the enterance of these vehicles. The only minus side that I could think of was the book seems to centre itself around the KV-1 and neglect the KV-2 a little. Apart from that fact, its a brilliant buy (for price & quality) so if anyone is interested in these tanks, id reccomend this book!
HASH(0x97018408) von 5 Sternen A very good concise book on the topic! 14. Mai 2008
Von Iain Williams - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
An excellent introduction to Soviet KV1 and KV2 tanks with a good smattering of photographs.

Well written, concise and easy to read. I found the text interesting and wanted to read more, rather than with some vehicle books which can be very boring and long winded.

I would have liked the author to include more first hand reports of the vehicles and crew experiences. From memory there are two good accounts, but after reading the accounts you are wanting for more!

The book deals more with the KV1 and variants rather than the KV2. I would have liked more information and photographs of the KV2.

Worth the discounted price.
