Kurzbeschreibung

From the moment Alicia Teller tripped and fell into Nikolai Korovin’s arms in a trendy London nightclub, her iron-clad control started to slip. Their night of pure, unadulterated passion was strictly a one off, so Alicia’s horrified to walk into the boardroom on Monday morning to find a very familiar pair of eyes staring back at her…

Nikolai’s sleek composure is ruffled to see Alicia. She injects a burst of colour into his cold, shadowed world, and her tantalizing curves are driving him to distraction.

But business and pleasure are not two things this legendary tycoon ever mixes… until now!

HASH(0x93db1858) von 5 Sternen Somethings are just not okay 29. Januar 2014
Von M. Y. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
There is a part of "Not Just The Boss's Plaything" that is just not okay. The character Alicia is raped by a neighbor and her "loving" father watches and does nothing but call her a whore the next day. Only no one calls it rape. The character was drunk and passed out. The neighbor took advantage of the situation. All I know that it is not okay. All I know is that her father could not have loved his child. All I know is that if my father saw the married neighbor having sex with me in the bushes he would yell at him and possibly grab the nearest object and throw it at the neighbor. Then he would grab me and take me into the house. At which point he would have noticed my inebriated state. My dad would not call me a slut or a whore. He would have called the cops on the neighbor. Why? Because what the neighbor did was not okay. Because fathers who love their daughters protect them. Writers need to understand that the situation in which she wrote for the character, drunk passed out girl and the neighbor who has sex with her is not an embarrassment. It is a rape scene, and rape is not okay. The hero had the correct reaction when he is told the story - anger at the neighbor.

Sometimes a bad boy is just a little too intense and the bad boy in Not Just the Boss's Plaything is cold, calculating and unemotional. In fact both heroes in this double feature are distant and not that likable.

Ii the first story Alicia literally falls into Nikolai in a club, and goes to bed with him as soon as they meet. Alicia is complex having a terrible opinion of herself. Nikolai also has a self-image problem. He basically feels he is devoid of emotion and is highly sexual. These two have a rather unemotional romance on Nikolai's part since he feels he is incapable of love. He does not express feelings well and his point of view just lacks warmth. I felt he changed little whereas I really liked the heroine and loved the transformation she underwent by the end of this novel becoming more forgiving of herself and embracing a new and healthy self-confidence.

In the second Story, A devil in Disguise, the hero of this novel is so controlling that he is unlikable. Dru is the personal assistant to Cayo Vila and she is in love with him even though he sees her as just a competent employee. When she tries to leave he basically takes over her life and is threatening and uncooperative. I found him to be entirely too arrogant. Dru's loyalty to Cayo has required great sacrifice and he has been unappreciative. I thought this couple did not come to terms well with their emotions and Dru was way too good for her hero.

NOT JUST THE BOSS'S PLAYTHING: by itself I will give this book 1.5 stars. For one the guy was borderline creepy and I don't think any woman in her right mind will stay with a man that tells her how many ways he can kill her with his thumb, for me that was just too much. I have read lots and lots of book where the Hero is very cold and unfeeling but this one made some crazy psychopathic statements and that's kind of scary. Secondly I hate the character of the father of the Heroine in this book, I don't care if the sex was consensual or not the fact still remains that my daughter is 21 and my married neighbour having sex with her in my backyard while she is intoxicated, that's enough for me to deal with my neighbour in a way that he will never forget and then chastise my daughter later but that's not even the case it was RAPE, she was intoxicated and unconscious and there is no way the dad will not have realised that and even though she told him the next morning that she did not even remember what happened he held it against his daughter for 8 years and the neighbour never faced the consequences for raping the girl, WOW that's just too much for me. Dad's are supposed to protect and defend their children at all times. I personally think Caitlin Crews should rewrite this book period.

DEVIL IN DISGUISE: Now I really enjoyed this book the Heroine is my type of woman very strong, knows what she wants and goes for it, never intimidated. I love the story, all the drama, the chemistry between the Hero and Heroine. And most of all the fact that they did not just jump into marriage and they took their time to know each other. I really recommend this book. Good one from Caitlin, I couldn't put it down.

CC has written a beautiful story that develops sensitively and heartwarmingly. Both the H and h are dealing with their tortured reality of the past, till they meet. Both help each other to face their demons....emerge out of the past to deal with them in the present and so begin to build on a future. Truly brilliantly done. A must read for romance readers.

In Not Just the Boss's Plaything by Caitlin Crews, Alicia has been trying to clean the dark stain on her image for the past eight years and therefore has sworn off men along with the party circuit. She has a stable job and lives a quiet and peaceful life untill Nikolai Korovin's comes along and makes her break her self imposed rules.

Nikolai's iron clad control is legendary but Alicia makes him feel so many things that he had not thought he was capable of. He needs Alicia help to get something from his ex wife and he will do anything to persuade her to say yes.

Caitlin Crews has written a good story which delivers everything you expect from the presents line. It has a tortured, dark and arrogant hero with an unfortunate past. It is clear from early on that Nikolai's childhood experiences have majorly shaped the man he is at the present. Alicia made an unworthy mistake years ago and she changed her whole lifestyle to repent for the same. Her wild past and the mistake she made did put me off in the beginning but I grew to like her because she did try to correct them.

Overall Not Just the Boss's Plaything by Caitlin Crews is a good romance with unconventional characters who might be difficult to like but the writing and pulse raising seduction does manage to compensate for the same.
