I purchased this cookbook for the red velvet cupcake recipe. I just made the frosting and it is delicious!
I am not sure why some people are not happy with the layout of the book. The only thing different in this cookbook from other cookbooks is the frosting or filling or glaze is not on the cake...cupcake...pie....brownie recipe page. all of those recipes on in a section of their own. The recipes are not at all hard to follow. Some are more complicated than others but all are doable and would not take a trained chef to make...create these deserts.
I think this book is a beautfiul easy to follow cookbook. The egg cream and soda recipes are a bonus in my opinion. I look forward to making more luscious goodies from Junior's Desert Cookbook.

I have 3 of the Junior's cookbooks and I have yet to be disappointed in any recipe. Even when I exchange healthier ingredients among those indicated, I get a good outcome. Some of these recipes have been adopted as our 'go to' recipes for family events.

The cheese cake recipe came out super! Read all the directions and even if your experienced at making cheese cake -- trust the recipe and follow exactly. It will be perfect and not have a split in the top of the cheese cake when your done. I bought a couple more to give to friends that liked the cheese cake.

Love this book, the recipes help you make products just like Junior's. The only thing I don't like is that the ingredients are spread out throughout the pages for each recipe instead of being lumped together at the beginning. Make it's a little more time consuming to make your grocery list, but other than that it's awesome. Like the tips in the back of the book that tell you potential reasons for why your dessert didn't turn out right.

As a former resident and native of NYC Junior's is an Icon for good food and deserts. I've been away from there for many moons and after a neighbor served me a piece of cheesecake based on the recipe from the "Remembering Brooklyn" book I had to have it as well as the Dessert Cookbook.

If anyone wants to know what it's like to be a Noo Yawka check the recipes...all outstanding and the best there is. You just can't get this kind of stuff anywhere else but the boroughs of NYC.
