Jenny Chapman is the human assistant of a unique and surprisingly fluffy bird called Algy. A full-time professional writer and artist, Jenny works from her ramshackle home in a remote area on the coast of the wild West Highlands of Scotland. This beautiful area provides the setting for the Tales from the Adventures of Algy series of illustrated children's chapter books.
Algy's first book, A Surprisingly Fluffy Bird, tells the exciting story of Algy's dramatic arrival in the new land which will become his home. The second book in the series, The Tree with a Golden Heart, is due to be published in November 2015, and many more are planned to follow. The Tales from the Adventures of Algy series is supported by Algy's web site for children (adventuresofalgy dot com) where young readers can learn about Algy's world, add their own pictures and poetry, ask questions, download colouring sheets, look up words in Algy's online dictionary, and discover many other fluffy surprises. Algy's adventures first appeared in a Tumblr blog (adventuresofalgy) in March 2012, which still continues, with new posts most days.
Jenny is also co-author (with her husband, Nigel Chapman) of major international college textbooks and professional books on digital media, Web design and Web animation, which have been translated into several languages, and an award-winning animator/multimedia filmmaker who has won prizes in film festivals around the world. Jenny studied at Edinburgh College of Art (M.Des. and B.A. Hons), and at the University of Leeds (B.A. Hons) and University of St. Andrews (postgrad research).
