Kurzbeschreibung

Meet Jade Smith, a magical mutt with a mission. A detective partnered with a shifter named Rolfe, she’s on the case to solve a slew of murders: Vamps are killing humans, and nobody knows why. When London Jane, the most powerful vamp in town, is implicated in the murders, Jade knows something isn’t right. Together with Jill, the Winter Queen of Faerie, Jade and Jane take their investigation underground. On the run, with nowhere to hide, they uncover a secret that could destroy Faerie, as well as the human realm. Will Jade stop the killer in time? Or will she be the next victim?
Magic, mayhem, and mystery abound, and the odds are stacked against them; it’s three against three hundred.

Super spannend geschrieben.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Jade is a real Jewel 20. Dezember 2016
Von Shannon Boote - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Vampires, witches, shifters, and Fae, OH MY! Jade was as good as I would have expected after reading Montagues other series. I am a little backwards because I started by reading Norma Jean’s School of Witchery Series first and, while the series stood so well on its own, I was excited to see where it started and learn about Jewel’s adopted family.

What impressed me most about Jade was the chemistry that grows so quickly between Jade, the main character, and those she comes into contact with, some we get to know really well and others pass quickly, but all left with a true impression of Jade and her true heart. The relationship that buds so quickly between Jade and London Jane is almost palpable and hot at the same time. Surprises wait around every corner, one of the biggest of which is Jade’s shifter self and the incredible revelation that comes with her first shift…she really is like no other.

More than anything else Jade is where the “Three J’Amigo” come together (Jade, Jane, and Jill) and it is also where girl (or woman) power kicks as much butt as any Bruce Willis film. I adore strong female leads, women who can take care of themselves and save the world all at the same time. I was eager to move on to Jane the second book in the “Three J’Amigos” series.

Ok, so this is where you stop reading if you don’t like spoilers. There may be a few spoilers to follow, nothing to mind blowing though if you have read the book’s summary.

Jade started out interestingly enough meeting a bear of a man (literally), Jade’s shifter partner Rolfe. Jade is immediately a mystery when it comes to her own magical talents or, for that matter, her origin. It becomes apparent pretty quickly that Jade has many talents as well as physical ties to the shifter, vampire, and fae communities. Her character and worth garner her friends and allies who stand beside her without fail. Able to shift her appearance and abilities to take on whichever magical being she is to become is an asset that serves her well, especially when vampires in the city start murdering people including cops. Getting to close to the truth puts Jade and Rolfe in the cross-hairs with a long list of beings ready and willing to be the ones to take them down, including almost impossible to stop zombies. Oh yeah! Did I forget to mention the zombies? Yeah there are zombies…

Jade turns to London Jane the most powerful vampire in the city. There is an immediate attraction between Jade and Jane and the truth that Jane and her vampires are not to blame for the murders does not clear anything up. Instead Jade and Jane find themselves the escape goats for a conspiracy meant to frame vampires and possibly Fae and turn the city against them. Now on the run, Jade must rely on her Fae blood to keep her safe as she crosses the veil into Fairie to speak with the Winter Queen, Jill. Quickly impressing royalty win her an incredible invitation and an even more unlikely friendship with the Winter Queen herself. Jade, London Jane, and Jill search for the truth, one that if not thwarted threatens to rip both Faerie and the human realm apart.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Fun New Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance with Lesbian Twist 25. Juni 2016
Von E.P. Clark - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
In "Jade" we meet the eponymous heroine, a super-powerful supernatural being who morphs between shifter, vampire, witch, and fae depending on the circumstances. She's currently serving as an agent in the local police force in Winston, as in Winston-Salem, NC, in a world in which supernatural beings are more or less out in the open, but are facing discrimination.

"Jade" combines a number of common urban-fantasy elements--e.g., vamps, shifters--with the twist of Jade's actual identity...which I can't reveal here for fear of spoilers! The story moves quickly and is very readable, with a fresh liveliness to the writing and a number of powerful female characters, always a plus. The only reason I'm giving it four stars rather than five is that I think it could have used a little more editing to clean up the comma splices and occasional typo I noticed as I was reading. However, it's still a very fun read and should serve fans of the urban fantasy/paranormal romance (with a lesbian twist!) well.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great first in a series! 3. September 2016
Von Raesv1 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
Bought this because the description and cover looked interesting. I didn't know it was going to get me started on a great new series. Lots of action and some twists and turns. I thought I knew what Jade was and then you find out she's not what you think but something better with an added twist. This is a great start to the series and left me wanting more.

3.0 von 5 Sternen First in trilogy 23. Januar 2017
Von E.P. McLean - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
The great strength of this book is its relentless action. The great weakness of this book is its relentless action. Jade is a new supernatural police officer. Her secret is she is witch, shifter, vampire and fae in one person. Not a bad concept, but the relentless action makes it impossible to really learn about anybody in the book. Solutions are too easy and very formula. The good guys are nice and the bad guys are cardboard cut outs. More time spent on character development would have lead to a much stronger book.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Strong Start to a Supernatural Thriller Trilogy 17. Juli 2016
Von Jeff Cunningham - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Jade is the first in a trilogy of supernatural thrillers and a lot of fun to read. The titular heroine is called a "magical mutt" in the blurb, and for good reason -- she's part witch, part vampire, part faerie, and part shifter... and that just scratches the surface. There is even more to Jade than that, and I really hope future stories dive further into her backstory, which is only hinted at in the second half of this book.

But as much of a badass as Jade is -- and you all know my love for badass heroines -- she has a softness and a vulnerability to her that keeps her from feeling like she's too strong or too powerful. Her chemistry with Jane is clear from the instant they meet, and that chemistry is one of the reasons I'll be diving into the second book, Jane, very soon.

There are a few slight quibbles that kept me from giving Jade five stars; this book couldn't used one more pass-through in editing, and the pacing does dip on a few occasions. But what starts as a supernatural murder mystery quickly devolves into something deeper and darker, something that promises to show us much more of this vibrant, dark world Jade inhabits.

But more than anything, Jade is a fun read and a strong introduction to the trilogy. I'm eager to start reading Jane, and I can't wait for Jill.
