I have had the great pleasure of meeting Lee Lanning. He is first, and foremost, a gentlemen and accomplished writer. Mr. Lanning served in Vietnam with the 'Red Cathers' of the 199 Light Infantry. It is unfortunate that Lee Lanning did not have all the records about Lurps available to him at the time of his book because of Shelby Stanton. Stanton had many of the classified documents in his home and garage. See Jug Burkett's book, 'Stolen Valor. How the Vietnam Generation Was Robbed of its Heroes and its History.' Stanton robbed Mr. Lee Lanning from his complete research and in spite of that, Mr. Lee Lanning's book, 'Inside the LRRPs: Rangers in Vietnam' is the TOPS!

I have read this book, and allthough it is not the best that I have read, I still enjoyed it very much. I don't know if Michael had a personnal expierence with the LRRP/RANGERS, but he still did an excellent job of depicting the things that many of our young RANGER boys went through. Roadrunner6 out
