#1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor returns with his hottest and most action-packed thriller yet! And don’t miss FREE FALL: A Prelude to Hidden Order, available for free download now!

The most secretive organization in America operates without any accountability to the American people. Hiding in the shadows, pretending to be part of the United States government, its power is beyond measure.

Control of this organization has just been lost and the future of the nation thrust into peril.

When the five candidates being considered to head this mysterious agency suddenly go missing, covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath is summoned to Washington and set loose on the most dangerous chase ever to playout on American soil.

But as the candidates begin turning up murdered, the chase becomes an all-too-public spectacle, with every indicator suggesting that the plot has its roots in a shadowy American cabal founded in the 1700s.

With the United States on the verge of collapse, Harvath must untangle a web of conspiracy centuries in the making and head off the greatest threat America has ever seen.

This is thriller writing at its absolute best, where the stakes have never been higher, nor the line between good and evil so hard to discern.

"For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers ...." -- Titus 1:10 (NKJV)

As much as I have enjoyed the prior Scot Harvath thrillers, A Hidden Order took me to a higher level of delight. Harvath is playing several new roles here as he represents the Federal Reserve in trying to save the lives of four people who have been kidnapped. This placement of Harvath in the story gives an outside-in perspective that breathes new life into the character. Further, much of the story takes place near by home ... in locations I know well. How could I fail to be delighted by a story with so much local content (at least for me)? Also, Harvath has to show he has a heart here ... something that makes any character more fun. Against that backdrop, there are crazy killers, bizarre crimes, symbolic acting out, and many misdirections. While the story certainly isn't perfect, it's just a great book to read in August on a warm evening as you listen to the crickets. There's a full moon now ... why not start tonight?

A typical American book. Why don't the American heros have a minor flaw just to make the more likeable? No everyhing is superlative starting from looks to language.Evreything the hero takes in his hands turns out to be gold. And so it goes on.His friends no matter whether male or female are in the category superlative as well they exceeded in everything they had to do.The plot is good just the writing style.....No I prefer rather a Michal Connelly with his Bosch a man who is a real character with flaws and demons, in short a human being

1.0 von 5 Sternen Aw man.... what just happened? 12. Dezember 2014

I'm a huge Harvath fan and have torn through his entire 13 book series in just over the last 3 months. This book was by far the biggest let down and it just happened to be the last one in the series for me ( i started on # 13 and that's how i found out about the series). It's like a poorly done Dan Brown novel....if you like a bunch of "who done it" mixed in with lots of history this is a good book for you. I certainly enjoy my share of those types of books but only when i know that's what i'm paying for. This book lacked the Terrorist bashing, edge of your seat action that got me to read the other 12 books! Check my other reviews and you will see i'm not an angry internet troll... just a disappointed fan!

3.0 von 5 Sternen He has always been like Mitch Rapp of Vince Flynn 30. Januar 2017

I am a huge Brad Thor's fan, but this book was by far the biggest letdown. Why? The book lacked the terrorists actions characteristics of Harvath. He has always been like Mitch Rapp of Vince Flynn, but in this book he lacked decision maker, a problem solver; rather, he followed whatever the local female cop was suggesting. He had a good social time in Boston, and as his boss, the "Old Man" was correct characterizing him as lack of executioner. I really love Thor's Harvath when he performs as a tactical operative, a cold killer like Rapp. The other problem with this book, it has too many characters doing different things that it was hard to follow and what they were trying to achieve, for example Ryan and McGee. I was confused.
At the end I did not know what they were doing, why, and who was the final culprit. And, Harvath was just having coffee latte with his police female friend. He could not pick a clue. For example, while he sat in the back seat of Sal's car, he did not figure out something was wrong with the drum next to his seat in the car. Frustrated, I did not read book epilogue and started reading a book of Vince Flynn. By all means, Brad Thor is a great fiction writer, and I know his next book will have 5 stars. I am looking forward to it.
Thank you,

1.0 von 5 Sternen Not recommended for people who rely on the MSM for their news. 22. Juni 2017

This book really deserves a split rating, depending on your perspective.

On the one hand, if you already know we keep aliens in Area 51 (Roswell, New Mexico); that we faked the moon landing; or, that FEMA is operating “death camps,” then you will LOVE LOVE this book. This book is a “must read” for you.

SPOILER ALERT!!! In the first quarter of the book, Mr. Thor pulls back the curtain on the Federal Reserve Board and explains its history and true purpose. Mr. Thor uses the clever literary device of having this all revealed to Scot Harvath by a senior Fed official in a lengthy monolog. I found this portion of the book to be particularly enlightening.

As a side note, I’ll confess that I have been to a number of meetings at the “Fed” (and I once sat next to Alan Greenspan during lunch in the White House “mess”) so, unlike many readers, I already knew that the Federal Reserve was not a Federal prison system. However, even I was surprised to learn that the Federal Reserve Board really is part of a depraved scheme designed for the benefit of “elite” bankers at the expense of ordinary Joes like you and me. And, if you follow the money, I am sure that the Illuminati or UN also are involved. This early part of this book made me cringe to think I was so close to those people. We should all thank Mr. Thor for opening our eyes.

On the other hand, if you rely on the MSM for your news, or know anything about the financial system in this country: stay away - this book is not for you. You probably aren’t smart enough to recognize the ugly truth if it hit you in the face. So, Mr. Thor’s revelation probably is wasted on you: like pearls before swine.

No matter what your political perspective may be, I think all will agree that Mr. Thor’s book is a good value - in terms of the quality and number of words you get for your money. But, but if you are like me, and many of his readers, one of the things that you may have enjoyed most about Mr. Thor’s past few books is that he generously shares his political views (thank God he had the prescience to warn all of us about the Muslims and Mexicans). Maybe I am just not trusting enough, but I did ask myself: if his story IS TRUE, then why didn't "they" eliminate him before or after he revealed their secret scheme? If his story IS NOT TRUE, then who benefits most from undermining confidence in our financial system?

Note: I was very disappointed that an urgent matter forced me to put the book down during Mr. Thor’s discourse on the Fed. But, I plan to pick it up again just as soon as I finish my scrap booking. At that time, I may update this review.

Seriously, I had enjoyed Thor’s earlier books. More recently, he has been injecting a large dose of his "alt-right" political views into his books. After reading earlier reader reviews, I find it very sad that some reviewers obviously believed that the tortured overview of the Fed in this book is real. I put the book down because it was simply too stupid. I won’t be reading any more of his books.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Confused, illogical Plotting 7. Juni 2014
Von Peter S. Lunde - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
Getting really tired with Brad Thor's incompetence. I've kinda liked Brad Thor early on, reading his books in order, but I now think he doesn't seem to know whether he wants to emulate Vince Flynn or John Sanford. This is easily Thor's worst book, from a grisly, poorly narrated murder mystery to a manipulation of the spy game. Where did his last girlfriend go? Why the endless discourse on the Federal Reserve? Why the constant repetition in all his novels about his father, his past, his Norseman name, etc? I'm starting to think Thor is a reasonably ok writer, but is also an ideologue like Glenn Beck who writes right wing thrillers to fuel for his millions of rabid followers and by now (large) bank account. Vince Flynn, far more gifted, always spun a wonderful, well-reasoned, logical plot around Mitch Rapp, his main character, who was consistently portrayed and believable. Thor is all over the landscape with his Scot Horvath tales. He needs better advice from friends or at least a better editor who can get him on track with his juvenile story telling. Back to creative writing 101. Even my students do better.

This story is about the Federal Reserve. I learned something about that organization I did not know. I trust Mr. Thor's research, so I feel that he knows what he is talking about. I usually LOVE his books, however, this one was a little muddled. There was something missing in the "feel" of the storyline, kind of like missing the garlic in spaghetti sauce. You know something is a little off, just don't know what it is. He skipped around too much between plots and if I put the (I use a Kindle) book down for a day or so, I had to go back a couple of pages to see what I was missing. Of course Scot Harvath managed to foil nefarious plans against the United States, there was a lot of action and horrifying crimes. There were times that it looked like the traitors would win and it is full of warnings about how fragile our freedom really is. As with all of these books, I am looking forward to MORE!!!
