Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

Lucy & Graham met in a back alley after a funeral. His father's funeral - she delivered the flowers.
He's the hard-hearted, rude, broody, non-smiling, non-feeling author. She's the happy little weirdo hippie with alllll the feels in the world.
But still there was some kind of connection. Some kind of ... something ... everything.
But then with one door opening their whole lives are changing, and what could've been the start of something, is the start of something completely different. But ... there's still a chance for Lucy to thaw the smile and heart of Graham. Maybe there could still be a happily ever after for all of them ....

Huh, the what ?? you ask? What is happening to Lucy & Graham? Will there be a HEA?

UGH this book! Brittainy and her #TalesOfFeels! Jeez! You can't help it - you're crying sooo much!! That doesn't mean that everything's all sad and everyone is dying. I'm just a really easy cryer in books! And Brittainy really knows how to write those books!!! But don't be afraid - it wasn't all that bad this time. ☺

I just loved this book! Lucy and Graham couldn't have been more different. It's sooo fun to watch this beautiful hippie girl, with daisies in her hair, smile at the grumpy thriller author, trying to get him to live a little. Just adorable.

Of course the reader is constantly afraid that we might not get the happy ending we're hoping for. Some people might come back to stir up trouble. But we can hope. And we'll have an amazing time reading the story in the meantime!

You'll cry, you'll chuckle, you'll want to slap some people ... but most of all you'll just love and ... FEEL!

The Gravity of Us was a wonderful read. This book messed me up in the best of ways. There were a few times where I teared up and once where I almost seriously cried, which for me is a big deal. I don't usually actually cry at books so...this book got to me. It was like the perfect storm for me reading this story. I was super happy at the end, I almost cried because it was so perfect and sweet and wonderful, but it really made me think about loved ones I have lost and I was so caught up in my head I couldn't move on. It was great even if it was a downer at times.

This is the story of Lucy and Graham. Lucy who feels everything and Graham who tries his hardest to feel nothing. These two...they shouldn't have worked. They shouldn't have had a connection, shouldn't have felt anything towards the other, there are some significant reasons why they shouldn't be together, but one very good reason why they should. One reason that wipes away those reasons why not. When you find your other half you have to figure out how to keep them in the face of everything else.

When Graham and Lucy first meet he couldn't have known what the future would hold. She is just a fan that is also trapped outside after they went out a door they didn't realize would lock. She is just a girl who is hippie-dippie and not at all who he would want to be around. I mean she feels everything so strongly and he has no idea what to do with this. His past made him close down emotions and try to not have any. Try to not feel anything so nothing can hurt him like it did. Oh, Graham. I loved him. I loved watching him open up when he is faced with a situation he never thought he would find himself in. I loved watching Lucy show him how to be a bit freer.

This was the best book I read this year.

The plotline was interesting, the writing, the flow, and the pacing were done very well.
There is no insta-love, all characters have flaws and walls around their hearts, and slowly everything changes. The walls are torn down slowly, there is drama, romance, and a lot of love.

The story kept me hooked from start to end.

5.0 von 5 Sternen but I seriously think THIS book is my favorite of hers 14. April 2017

I know I say this after reading every B Cherry book, but I seriously think THIS book is my favorite of hers.

Lucy and Graham’s story is original, beautiful, and completely unforgettable!

The Gravity of Us starts with Lucille Palmer. A heroine with loads of strength, love, and the biggest heart. Lucy has 2 older sisters and they all lost their free spirited mama years ago. Out of all the girls, Lucy is the one most like her mama. She’s sort of a ‘hippie weirdo’ and I mean that in the best possible way. Lucy is one of the best heroines I’ve ever read about and by far my favorite character Brittainy Cherry has ever written. I loved every single thing about her. And her nickname for Graham- best thing ever!!!

Lucy and Graham meet under interesting circumstances. It’s safe to say that they are opposites. Lucy is fun, free, and happy, where as Graham is taciturn, grounded, and grouchy. This is a story of opposites who are thrown together and some how, some way fall for each other. At first, Lucy drives Graham crazy, but with time, she grows on him. In fact, she is one of the very few people in this world Graham can stand. I loved how different they were from one another. Seeing the way Graham changed and evolved afters spending time with Lucy was one of my favorite parts of the story. I love how one person can come into your life and change everything for you.

I don’t want to delve too deep into the story. I loved all the moments that made me gasp and watching how everything came together. Just know this story is exceptional. It’s a forbidden(ish) love story, but it’s also a journey. These characters go through a lot but everything that happens happens for a reason (MAKTUB). Not only did I adore Lucy and Graham, but there were some exceptional supporting characters. Ollie was by far my favorite.

Brittainy’s writing is stunning. It’s epic and brilliant and just everything. Her stories are unlike any authors out there. Every book she writes is unique and emotional and she knows just how to get me in the feels. Every book Brittainy writes makes its way onto my favorites list. She’s that kind of author. Her books are truly special and one of a kind. So many of her quotes speak to me and I just can’t get enough!

The Gravity of Us pulled me in from the very first page and never let go. It moved me, made me think, made me feel, and made me fall in love. I laughed, I cried, I cried some more, but I was left with a full heart and a huge smile on my face when I was finished reading. This book is going on my all time favorites book and is my top read of 2017 so far! I give it 5+ stars and recommend it to everyone!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Once again Brittainy C. Cherry has floored me with all the possibilities this novel offered 18. April 2017

*** 2017 Favorite ***
*** 6 Star Review ***
Opening a Brittiany C. Cherry novel is like opening a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get but you know you are in for a delicious reading experience. With each chapter it's like taking a bite out of life and experiencing an explosion of flavors, tasting the good and bad that life has to offer. After the book is finished the reader walks away with a rich and rewarding experience after sampling every emotion imaginable.

The Gravity of Us is one of those novels that will leave a lasting memory.

Graham Russell is the reclusive best seller horror novelist. He is emotionally void and lost to the world of humanity. He can create stories of pure horror, evoking emotions from his readers but he cannot relate to the emotions he has penned on a personal level. His life is perfectly synchronized to revolve around his career and his writing. Although he's married, he's not emotionally invested in his wife. She is just another tool that he uses to make his life more covenient. His wife is cut from the same cloth and uses Graham the same way. Together their lives work like a well oiled machine until an unwanted pregnancy and the death of his father uproots their perfectly synchronized lives. The aftermath of what follows is the rebirth of Graham Russell becoming the man he always had the potential to be. The journey is paralyzing, extremely painful, eye opening, and the greatest joy he will ever experience. Graham Russell is becoming a member of the human race. He is going jump on the emotional rollercoaster and experience the thrilling ride called life. It all begins with meeting a weirdo hippy florist and the early birth of his child.

After Lucille's mother died when she was eighteen, she was left with the task of keeping her family together. Her mother wanted her to keep her sisters together and become the glue during the hard times and good times. Her ability to love loudly was the strength they would all need throughout life. Her mother didn't issue this task lightly, she knew who her daughters were at the very core and knew Lucy had the strength to love them unconditionally. A life threatening battle with cancer, a heart wrenching divorce, a sister who left their family behind after the burial, and all the new paths in life will not deter Lucy from her task. It was what she was born to do. She will never change. She will always love unconditionally even if it breaks her heart. She will always be eternally optimistic even when the world is collapsing beneath her feet. She will always have hope. She will always share her unconditional love and hope with anyone who crosses her path, including the pessimistic Graham Russell.

Graham Russell's perfectly synchronized life fell apart when his daughter was born prematurely. It was the defining moment that changed his life forever even though his wife abandoned him with a dying child. That was the day he learned he could love unconditionally even though he had never experienced love in his life. Meeting Lucy, the weirdo hippy florist was the day the heavens sent an angel to guide him through the emotionally infested waters of life. Lucy taught Graham how to express his love. She gently guided him through his emotions and taught him how to give as well as receive love. She held his hand through thick and thin, she never let go when he thought he would sink, and she always encouraged him to do it better. She gave him the courage to become the man he was meant to be. She gave him unconditional love. How could he not fall in love with this angel? He's determined to give Lucy the same kind of love she has given him and his daughter. He will always have her back even if it means letting her go.

Once again Brittainy C. Cherry has floored me with all the possibilities this novel offered. She has a true gift of portraying humanity in all it's glory. Adding a beautiful romance gives the book more beauty. I highly recommend reading The Gravity Of Us.

5.0 von 5 Sternen WOW! Incredible read! Don't let the set up keep you from reading. It is perfect. 16. April 2017

Oh my gawd! I love every book this author has ever written but this one, this one goes beyond. There are no perfect words to express what an incredible read this was. My heart was taken on a journey that I never thought was even possible.

Graham and Lucy’s story is not one that most would embrace. After all, Graham was married to Lucy’s sister and had a child with her. That is not something a lot of readers are able to get past. I worried it might be a problem for me. I should’ve known better. If anyone can make this trope work it is this author.

Every word written is necessary and carries the story forward. Every action of the characters brings them closer to growth and healing. Every scene is progress despite the angst that may result at its end. I felt as though I was shrouded in all the laughter, tears, heartbreak, and happiness that these characters lived through.

This is a slow burn but I never got to the point where I just wanted them to hurry up and get on with it. Lucy’s free spirit was a perfect counter balance to the restraint and darkness that consumed Graham. He has never felt love, doesn’t know what it feels like and isn’t really sure what it looks like. A damaged hero like that is my cuppa.

When he is forced to ask for Lucy’s help, Graham opens himself up to all the quirky sunlight that personifies Lucy. He struggles to let her in but as the months pass we see the slow transformation that her presence in his life brings. It’s a beautiful thing and one not to be missed.

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Beautiful Novel 18. April 2017
Von Mila - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
How does she always know what my heart needs? We each live our lives day in and day out. Some days, weeks, months, even years, are harder than others. And sometimes, in the midst of those days, we need to read the story of others, feel our hearts rip apart for them and come back together, just so we can feel hope. The Gravity of Us by Brittainy Cherry was exactly what I needed, at exactly the right time.

The story of Graham + Lucy, two opposites, yet still with so many similarities. Graham, the grounded one, Lucy, always in flight; Graham, the man who has shut down all emotion, Lucy, the woman who feels everything; Graham, the realist, Lucy, the idealist. Beneath it all, they are each more like the other than they let on—they just choose to deal with their pain in very different ways.

Stories of broken beings, understanding, compassion, sacrifice, empathy, hurt, pain, forgiveness and ultimately, the healing powers of love, The Elements Series {each a true standalone} brings it all together and this, its final chapter, sums it up beautifully.

From The Air He Breathes, to The Fire Between High & Lo, to The Silent Waters and now The Gravity of Us, it has all come full circle and is complete in the most perfect way.

How does she always know what my heart needs? Maybe because my heart is now home to Tristan + Elizabeth, Logan + Alyssa, and Brooks + Maggie, and while as a reader I didn’t know it, it simply wouldn’t, no, couldn’t, be complete without Graham + Lucy.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Can we give this book 10 stars!!!!! 19. April 2017

Can we give this book 10 stars!!! This author continually writes one good book after another. She is one of my top 5 authors that I read everything she writes. Graham and Lucy are as different as night and day with Lucy being a ray of sunshine and love and Graham as cold as can be towards others. How they get together, the drama, emotions and issues are what this author is so good at writing and drawing the reader into the story. No way could I put this book down and finished it early this morning. I could not help but feel all the emotions the characters go through and what brought each of them to a certain point. Watching Graham open up gradually and learning about his childhood and how it had formed him is heartbreaking. To see how Lucy got to him first by being his friend was so rewarding to read. We all need a Lucy in our life! I am not going to do any spoiler and there is a lot more to the story to read but again the author has created two wonderfully likeable characters for us to love.
