5.0 von 5 Sternen Difficult to put down 30. Januar 2014
Von Michael P. Weber - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
I have been waiting for Mark Howe to do a book for a long time -- thank goodness Jay Greenberg convinced him to do it. It is obvious that Mark was not just a willing subject, but that he participated fully!

Obviously there are the stories of growing up in the Howe family, but also insights into the 1972 US Olympic hockey team and the silver medal brought back from Sapporo, on as a "family unit" to the WHA, first with the Aeros, then the Whalers. It was fascinating to read about the chemistry that wasn't there with the Whalers in both the WHA and the NHL.

Mark was probably under appreciated and had to wait too long for Hockey Hall of Fame recognition because he was so versatile, that delayed his development as a defenseman, I am certain.

You can tell a great deal about a person through his relationships with his family, friends and teammates, and you can't help but like Mark even more after reading this.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Mark moves out of dads shadow 12. Januar 2014

While Mark Howe clearly inherited his father's talent for hockey, fortunately he did not inherit Gordies shyness, as this book gave a wealth warm, funny, and sometimes brutal detail of his family, hockey career, and personal life. A hall of fame read that surely makes his parents proud

I own a vast library of hockey and sports books, but This book is at the top of my list, for great reads! Mark and his co-author have created a Wonderful biography. It reveals his life and times in a refreshingly honest, candid manner, and is the type of book you do not want to put down!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great read! 17. Januar 2014
Von Glen Piper - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Very conversational (but not controversial!). Mark Howe does a nice job of bringing us into the know on what it was like growing up as the most talented son of Mr. Hockey. A great player in his own right, his perspective is a nice addition to those that already exist on hockey and the Howe family.
