Nick und Amy Dunne haben sich vor sieben Jahren kennengelernt, zwei Jahre später geheiratet und galten als absolutes Vorzeigepärchen, zumindest als sie noch in New York lebten und beruflich erfolgreich waren. Sie waren beide als Journalisten tätig, verloren jedoch durch den fortschreitenden Niedergang der Printmedien innerhalb weniger Monate ihre Jobs. Bislang musste sich Amy keine Sorgen um ihr finanzielles Auskommen machen, denn ihre Eltern sind erfolgreiche Schriftsteller, haben die Kindheit ihrer Tochter sehr publikumswirksam vermarktet, indem sie Amy zur Kinderbuchfigur einer erfolgreichen Buchreihe machten, und haben einen Teil ihrer Einnahmen in einem Trustfonds für Amy angelegt. Allerdings wurde die Buchreihe "Amazing Amy" eingestellt und ihre Eltern sind inzwischen nahezu pleite, sodass sie ausgerechnet jetzt dringend Geld aus Amys Trustfonds benötigen.
Als Nick von seiner Zwillingsschwester Go erfährt, dass seine Mutter an Brustkrebs erkrankt ist, beschließt er, mit Amy in seine alte Heimatstadt North Carthage in Missouri zurückzukehren, um seiner kranken Mutter beizustehen. Von Amys letzten finanziellen Mitteln kauft er dort eine Bar, die er gemeinsam mit seiner Schwester betreibt, und unterrichtet nebenbei noch einen Kurs am Junior College. Amy verfasst Persönlichkeitstests für Frauenzeitschriften, um ihren Teil zum gemeinsamen Lebensunterhalt beizutragen, vermisst aber ihr altes Leben in New York und fühlt sich in der beschaulichen Kleinstadt, in die sie nun verpflanzt wurde, nicht besonders wohl. Die Ehe von Nick und Amy beginnt nun unaufhaltsam zu kriseln.
An ihrem fünften Hochzeitstag verschwindet Amy plötzlich spurlos.

Spannend, sehr gut geschrieben und genial konstruiert. Sogar wenn man den Plot schon kennt will man es genau verstehen, alle Nuancen und möglichen Hinweise entdecken, ein tolles Puzzle aus Wörtern und Sätzen. Gab es überhaupt eine Chance? Wie kann es weitergehen? Was folgt noch?
Nach Ende der Lektüre dachte ich lange über die Rolle von Amys Eltern nach ...
Psychologisch Extraklasse, Krater tun sich unter harmlosen Wiesenblümchen auf und oberflächlich hat alles fast immer seine beste Ordnung, wer weiß schon wie es tief drin aussieht. Manchmal hilft Hinschauen und Hinhören, manchmal muss man einfach vertrauen - und manchem wird das zum Verhängnis.

Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Ich habe selten ein so gutes Buch gelesen. Auch wenn es ein Riesenschinken ist, es lässt sich flüssig lesen, es ist spannend und mir gefallen die beiden Erzählstränge von diesem "traumhaften" Ehepaar ausgesprochen gut. Der Film ist übrigens auch der Hammer! Lesens- und sehenswert!

großartiger Pageturner mit gelungenen Überraschungsmomenten. Absolut unerwartetes Ende. Bin auf die Verfilmung gespannt. Werde mir noch weitere Bücher der Autorin kaufen.

"Gone Girl" von Gillian Flynn ist eines jener Bücher, die nicht geschrieben wurden, um eine Geschichte zu erzählen, sondern um der Welt zu beweisen, was für ein außergewöhnliches Individuum die Autorin bzw. der Autor ist.
So ist das Buch gespickt von kleinen Verweisen auf verschiedene Bücher (Murakami, Fitzgerald..), Filme, Bands (Franz Ferdinand..) usw., die der Autorin anscheinend am Herzen liegen. Die eigentliche durchaus interessante Geschichte tritt dabei in den Hintergrund. Dadurch entstehen Längen, die das Buch letztendlich recht langweilig machen.

... denkt man sich am Anfang der Lektüre dieses Buches. Falsch gedacht - schnell entpuppt es sich als bewonderes Juwel des Genres, das völlig zu Recht so gehypt wird. Raffinierte Führung durch die Erzählinstanzen, unerwartete Wendungen und echtes Schockiertsein gegenüber den Enthüllungen, die die Handlung für uns bereithält sind garantiert.

Amy und Nick sind seit fünf Jahren verheiratet und scheinen das perfekte Paar zu sein. Charismatisch, intelligent, charmant, in jeder Hinsicht überlegen, die perfekte Symbiose aus Mannn und Frau. Sie wollen ihren fünften Hochzeitstag begehen, von dessen liebervoller Vorbereitung wir noch Zeuge werden, begehen. Doch abends ist Amy plötzlich verschwunden - und die Fassade beginnt zu bröckeln...

Thrillerfans: unbedingt lesen!!! Die, die nicht unbedingt Fans sind (wie es auch bei mir der Fall ist): trotzdem lesen, auch dieses Genre kann einen noch überraschen und durch narratologischen Feinschliff überzeugen.

So ließe sich der Roman wohl knapp rezensieren, ohne wirklich etwas dazu gesagt zu haben. Unter der Thriller-Oberfläche des (vorgetäuschten) Verschwindens von Amy Dunne, dem anfangs tollpatschigen zunehmend aber verzweifeltem Versuch des Ehemanns Nick Dunne seine "Unschuld" am "Verschwinden" sein Frau zu beweisen und der Erkenntnis, dass all die damit zusammenhängenden Ereignisse im Roman dem zugrundeliegenden Plan von Amy Dunne entsprechen, die bei Planabweichungen adaptiv reagiert und stets die Hoheit über die Story, ihre Story, behält, geht es im Grunde um etwas völlig anderes. Um Beziehungen nämlich.

Was ist eine Paarbeziehung, was ist eine Ehe in der Zeit der heute 30-45jährigen? Worin unterscheidet sie sich von den Paarbeziehungen der Vorgänger- oder Elterngeneration? Wie wirken sich der sozio-ökonomische Hintergrund auf die unterschiedliche Entwicklungen von Persönlichkeiten aus und was ist, wenn diese unterschiedlichen Persönlichkeiten, Herkommen und Hintergründe in einer Beziehung vereint werden? Wieviel nurture liegt in der menschlichen nature?

Die dysfunktionale Ehe der Eltern Dunne und die über-harmonische Ehe der Eltern Elliott wirken wie Schablonen vor denen sich das Beziehungsdrama von Amy und Nick Dunne entfaltet. Man spürt, dass die Ehen beider Elternpaare im Grunde verlogen sind, "Fassadenehen", um den guten Schein zu wahren und dem angelernten Konservatismus zu huldigen. Die Misogynie des Vaters Dunne hat ihre Begründung in der Zweckehe mit der Mutter Dunne und hat die Lieblosigkeit des Vaters gegenüber seinen Nachkommen zur Folge, was aus Nick einen unsicheren, permanent pubertierenden Jungen macht, der nicht erwachsen werden kann.
