Garmin GTU 10 - Keep an eye on personal items

The GTU 10 is a GPS tracker that offers simple, limitless tracking with long standby time and manageable cost. Keep an eye on your personal property, as well as domestic and farm animals with the GTU 10 or use the GTU 10 to track your fleet.

How it works:

The GTU 10 is small, lightweight, robust and waterproof (according to standard IPX 7) and can be easily attached to a pet collar or in the car.
When you purchase a new GTU 10, the basic tracking service is included in 19 European countries for 1 year, worth €49.- (mobile coverage depends on GSM operator), so you can get started right after registering and activating the device in your Garmin account.

You can easily view the position of the GTU 10 on the computer in your myGarmin account. You can also download the free Garmin Tracker™ app for smartphones while comparing your current position with the GTU 10's position.

In addition, you can use the following functions on the computer or with the help of the smartphone app:

  • Create geofence areas (virtual boundaries) for your GTU 10. As soon as the GTU 10 enters or leaves a geofence area, you or your notification list will be notified by email or SMS
  • Displays the tracking log of the GTU 10.
  • Adjust device settings for optimal standby time and performance, as well as for low battery or off notifications

Your very personal touch.

The areas of application of the GTU 10 are very flexible, but limited to the tracking of animals and objects due to data protection regulations:

  • Pet owner: get notified when your pet moves away from or enters a geofence area
  • Owners of mobile property: let yourself the position of your car, motorcycle, camper, yacht, etc. Show

    Habe nach Ablauf des Trackingdienstes nach 1 Jahr sicherlich 20x versucht diesen Dienst auf der Garmin Homepage zu verlängern, ist aber absolut unmöglich,nach Eingabe der korrekten Kreditkartendaten ständige Fehlermeldungen mit dem Hinweis "Wenden Sie sich an den Support". Weder Deutschland noch UK-Support ( Kontakt über e-mail), geben hilfreiche Auskünfte,selbst die Geschäftsführung antwortet nicht, man möchte halt nur verkaufen oder scheinbar an die Kreditkartendaten kommen (Vorsicht!), kostenpflichtiger Telefonsupport reinste Abzocke ! Grundsätzlich Warteschleife!. Da mir das Gerät für den Mülleimer doch zu teuer war, werde ich nun versuchen den Superservice von Amazon einzuschalten und das Gerät, da nun absolut unbrauchbar, zurücksenden. Eines ist sicher: Für Garmin ist der Kunde das grösste Übel und wird einfach nur ignoriert! Habe selten eine solche Ignoranz erlebt. Daher meine Empfehlung : ja nicht kaufen, da man irgendwann immer einmal mit dem scheinbar nicht vorhandenen Support in Kontakt treten muss !

    Hallo,

    wir haben den Garmin GTU 10 seit dem 05.07.2013 über Amazon gekauft. Die anfänglichen negativen und sehr schlechten Bewertungen haben mich zwar verwundert, da ich aber Garmin Geräte vom Sport und aus dem beruflichen Umfeld kenne, konnte ich mir nicht vorstellen, dass dieses Gerät derart schlecht funktioniert.

    Der GTU wurde zügig geliefert, inkl. einer Tasche, welche man z.B. an einem Hundehalsband befestigen könnte.

    Dies ist auch unser primärer Einsatzzweck.

    Zum Gerät selber:
    - Es findet sehr schnell die Satelliten,
    - Es lässt sich problemlos über das iPhone oder den PC orten, sofern eine Internetverbindung besteht
    - Die Akkulaufzeit ist von 2 Tagen bis zu 7 Tage, je nach Trackingintervall und ob man den Ruhemodus in einem Geofencebereich erlaubt
    - Das Menü und die Anzeige ist sehr übersichtlich, es zeigt unter anderem Geschwindigkeit, Höhe und die letzten Positionen der letzten 72H sowie die aktuelle Position an. Auf dem iPhone sogar die eigene (iPhone) und die Position des GTU10, was es leichter macht seinen Hund wiederzufinden, sollte dies mal so sein.
    - Es ist möglich die Einstellung am Gerät online zu ändern, bsp.: der Trackingintervall von Stündlich über alle 5min oder alle 30sek. Bietet sich an, wenn der Hund entwischt und man in der Verfolgung ist. ;)
    - Er ist mehr als sehr gut geschützt vor Umwelteinflüssen, insbesondere in der Tasche, unser Hund ist jeden Tag in der Pension und draussen und das Gerät hatte keinerlei Probleme damit,
    - Er funktioniert auch im Wald beim Joggen ohne Probleme,
    - Da wir den GTU nach jedem benutzen aus der Tasche und an das Ladegerät gehängt haben, gab es auch keinerlei Probleme mit dem Akku. Im Urlaub (Hund in der Pension) hielt dieser bis zu 7 Tage.
    - Positiv ist auch , dass der Trackingplan 1 Jahr kostenlos ist, inkl. Zustellung von SMS und Emails. Danach 5€ im Monat was völlig okay ist.

    Natürlich gibt es auch einen Nachteil:
    - Der Reißverschluss an der Tasche hat nach 8 Monaten den Geist aufgegeben, hier wäre definitiv eine Nachbesserung angebracht.

    Am besten hat mir gefallen und daher habe ich mich trotz der negativen Bewertungen für Garmin entschieden, der Kundenservice ist 1A, nach 1 Jahr war das Gerät defekt, kein GPS Signal und Garmin hat innerhalb von 4 Tagen ausgetauscht.

    Ansonsten, kann ich den GTU 10 nur jedem verantwortungsvollen Hundehalter wärmstens empfehlen, besser vorbereitet sein für den Tag X, als nachher blöd dazustehen.

    Bislang haben wir den GPS Sender noch nicht gebraucht. ;) Trotzdem beruhigt es, wenn er ihn trägt und Wild auftaucht oder mal in der Pension ist, wo er schon mal über den Zaun gestiegen ist.

    Als Hundeführer, der seinen Jagterrier universell einsetzt, d.h. stöbern auf Sauen, sprengen von Füchsen und apportieren von Wasserwild bin ich von der Garmin Tracking Unit 10 (GTU 10) wirklich überzeugt und begeistert. Sie ist im Gegensatz zu dem Garmin Astro 22O extrem leicht und kompakt. Verpackt in das sehr empfehlenswerte Signalhalsband von Müller-Fox eine elegante Lösung, die ein Verhaken des Hundes fast ausschliesen läßt. Im Gegensatz zu dem ebenfalls getesteten Tracker TK 102 arbeitet die GTU 10 deutlich zuverlässiger, ist robust und "waterresistant". Es ist ein grosser Vorteil, das die Position des Hundes direkt auf den Garmin Server weitergeleitet wird, d.h. es wird kein Mobilfunknetz benötigt. Als Hundeführer benötige ich zum Empfang eine Internetverbindung, die ich durch einen Positionswechsel gewährleisten kann. Von unseren Hunden können wir das nicht erwarten. Das Anmelden und die Bedienung ist wirklich einfach und übersichtlich, gleiches gilt für die TrackingApp von Garmin. Mit reicht es bei Bedarf, die Position meiner Terrierhündin abzurufen, so daß ich den Premium Tracking Dienst wohl nicht in Anspruch nehmen werde. Die Jahresgebühr für das Standardtracking halte ich für fair und angemessen. Diejenigen, die die GTU 10 ausgesprochen negativ bewertet haben, sollten vielleicht Angaben zu Ihrem Bildungsgrad machen, so dass eine differenzierte Abwägung der unterschiedlichen Rezensionen möglich ist.

    Das Gerät ist im Prinzip ja nicht schlecht und funktioniert. Die Software für iPhone wurde auch schon 2 mal innerhalb eines Monats upgedatet, wird also immer besser. Der Akku könnte sicherlich länger halten, aber das Gerät ist ja schließlich auch recht klein. Das was mich am meisten stört ist, das man am Gerät nicht ablesen kann, ob es an- oder ausgeschaltet ist. Ist mir schon mehrfach passiert, dass ich gedacht hatte, es wäre aus und als ich es dann benutzen wollte, war der Akku leer. Das muß Garmin unbedingt besser lösen!! Die LED's sollten entsprechend häufiger blinken, damit man das weiß. Ansonsten bin ich mit dem Gerät soweit zufrieden. Aber dennoch zur Zeit nur 3 Sterne, da das noch viel besser geht!

    I use the Garmin GTU 10 for my dog who runs off during walks chasing rabbits and things.
    The unit is easy to attach to the collar in its case, unfortunatly the case does not appear to be waterproof and it soaks through when the dog is in long grass and bush.
    The GPS itself works reasonably well, the positioning is accurate and its easy to see on the satelite view on my Sony experia phone.
    The main drawback I find is the refresh rate is very slow most of the time and can take a couple of minutes, even in open ground, very often the dog reappears before the unit gets a fix. I'm not sure yet but I think it is affected by cloud cover as well. The GPS on my phone by contrast and under the same condtions is almost instantaneous.
    Overall I would rather have it than not, it gives a sense of ease that at least I know roughly whereabouts the dog is even though I have to wait for an accurate positioning fix.
    Worth the money for the peace of mind.

    Prodotto molto valido e utile, ha solo un enorme problema quando si inserisce numero di cellulare WIND che inizia con 39, non lo riconosce e non invia alcun messaggio SMS, pertanto la Garmin USA dopo che ho segnalato il problema sta cercando una soluzione, che a detta del SERVICE GARMIN non è semplice da trovare, pertanto chi avesse un cellulare WIND che inizia per 39..... ATTENZIONE! deve necessariamente comprare un'altra scheda se vuole ricevere SMS di avviso.
