He is not the Hero of the Masses, he is not a controversial politician and neither is he a guitar toting rockstar. What makes Garcia Marquez's biography interesting is that you connect to it.
Gerald Martin has spent years in writing this biography. He offers explicit accounts of Gabo's life but also takes you on a tour in understanding literary research. His interpretations, which sometimes seem purely dissective and sometimes too judgemental, offer a perspective on Gabo's life which fulfills the effort of reading this 650 page mammoth of a book.
A biography worth reading.
