Rezension aus dem Vereinigten Königreich vom 30. August 2017
When I looked to get a 1080Ti I realised that, forgetting about the FE version, they all performed about the same. I understand that some are more overclocked from the manufacturer than others but overall I was spending the difference on the cooling and the customer support.

Gigabyte have always been excellent when I have needed their UK based customer support. Providing that you register this card with them you then get an additional 12 months warranty to give you four years, I have never kept a car that long though.

Fitting the card was simple enough. The side connectors for the two 8 pin plugs are simple enough to attach the cables to and as you can see from the several photos included the overall size of the card is a little bigger than the GTX 1070 it replaced but not by a large amount. I have made a GPU support arm out of lego (see photo) and that supports the card whilst in my case, it is VERY heavy.

The cooling on this card is very impressive. With the default fan profile the triple fans are off all the time in Windows and only start to come on with heavy 3D games demands. Even then I have not yet seen the card go above the top 60's in Celcius when under load. It clocks the GPU core to 2012mhz itself when it is being fully loaded.

I had owned a Gigabyte Gaming G1 1070GTX and that Windforce card was amazing in terms of how quiet it was when it was fully utilised.
When playing the game No Man's Sky with the 1070 GTX at 1440p and medium eye candy settings it was being used at around 90%+, with adaptive sync being applied. The FPS varied between 40 and 60fps.

Switching over to the 1080Ti and the settings increased to Ultra the card typically runs at less than 50% load and hits a constant 60fps and never changes, that being the maximum refresh rate of my monitor. I have just overclocked my monitor now to 72hz and now it locks fine to 72fps. This is with a i 6700k at 4.6ghz and 16GB of DDR4 RAM.

But the game play is so much better, it is smoother and the ships controls are much more responsive. I would not have believed the card would have made so much difference, but it did.

Getting a good price for my 1070GTX meant that this card did not cost me too much and I have been pleasantly surprised the difference that it has brought to my gaming at 1440p over that of my other card.

I have not bothered to use any of the software that came with the card. I just use the latest Nvidia drivers along with Afterburner, RivaTuner and HWInfo. Those provide me with all the statistical information that I need and AB allows me to set a custom fan profile as needed.

For me it has been a good buy and sadly there was nothing that I would like which Vega brought to the market, that launch didn't seem to make any price reductions for the Nvidia cards. Expensive yes but it has more than met my expectations.

I do feel that the following might have some influence on the cost of high end GPU's. The value of the pound against the dollar, the miners buying up stocks and then the switch to Nand memory production over that of Vram. There maybe other factors but the bottom line is that it is an expensive time to buy a top end card.
