Although I wasn't aware of her previous work, I saw this new released book on stand and because I liked it I also asked saleswoman to let me listen accompanying CD a bit.
And all I can say is that this collection is really good, either as a keeper or as a nice gift.
While the book is fully illustrated with the songs motives and lyrics, and some funny advices like how to make a folded paper resembling frog puppet or how to talk like a cowboy, the music itself are 12 country songs performed by Alison Krauss, Dwight Yoakam, Ryan Adams and Fountains of Wayne that all in common have some country motive like dogs or trucks.
The author said that for this album she was inspired by her childhood back in the 1950s, when folk songs were sung at schools and westerns were watched at home TVs.
The album is full of humor that will entertain and please country fans and especially young kids who immediately begin to swing to the entertaining melody rhythm when they hear it.
Good performers, catchy melodies and funny designed book are the main features for which I can truly recommend this collection, for your family or as a gift to another family that is dear to you.
Sandra Boynton shatters that myth with her albums, including Frog Trouble. C'mon, Dwight Yokam singing about his dog Hank? Brad Paisley singing about friendship? Josh Turner singing about *anything*? Who can resist?
No one should. No one of any age should turn down the opportunity to listen to -- and sing along with -- these enjoyable songs. I may be an adult, but I'm no fool. And I've never met a listener (of any age) who didn't appreciate the humor and astounding honesty that permeate Boynton's songs.
Stop what you are doing and order this album right now. Then, when it arrives in the mail, stop what you are doing and listen to it. Then listen again. Then call your friends over to listen. Then pick up your daughter (or granddaughter) and dance with her to a song or two. They're that good, and that fun.
A special thanks to recording artists who share Boynton's vision and humor and help her bring them to life. I hope they all enjoyed it as much as we do, and will, for as long as the music lasts.
