Kurzbeschreibung

From USA TODAY Bestselling Author, C. L. Stone, read Friends vs. Family, the third book in The Academy Ghost Bird Series.

Sang Sorenson is forced to suffer through another of her mother's extreme punishments. It almost kills her. The Academy boys vow it will be the last. They're determined to keep Sang safe, especially from her own family.

Their solution: complete invasion of her life.

Kota, Luke, Silas, Nathan, Victor, Gabriel and North do everything within their power to show Sang what true loyalty means. It takes more than blood to make a family and they want Sang in theirs.

In this third book of The Academy series Sang experiences a taste of freedom and what it's like to truly be cared for...to be wanted. Sang learns a bit more about the boys' broken families and the boys discover more than they could ever have bargained for about Sang's. The Academy was the answer to their problems. Could it be hers?

Sang's actions will force her mother to reveal a startling truth. A truth that will change Sang's life and the boys' lives in unpredictable ways. Forever.

5.0 von 5 Sternen totally hooked on the Academy 16. September 2013

I read a lot but never have I become so quickly obsessed with a group of characters as those in the Academy series. I've read all 3 books twice and am eagerly awaiting #4. I can't put my finger on what makes these books different. The characters (9 gorgeous boys) are likable and just the kind of loyal friends anyone would love to have. The protagonist, Sang, is brave yet insecure, wants to fit in but is quite innocent. Her knowledge of relationships is limited to what she's read in books and her abusive family. The way the guys take her in and accept her is heartwarming and amazing. You just know they are all in love with her, or at least very infatuated, but above all they want to keep her safe and protect her.

There's more to the story that has yet to be revealed about this mysterious Academy and the writer lures you in, makes you want to discover the secrets. There are typos and grammar errors but these were easily overlooked by me because the characters were so well written, the story was so compelling. I'm not a young adult reader, either. I read all genres, and have been for over 50 years, and this series has me as obsessed with 10 people as I've ever been. Highly recommended!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Loving it still... 5. September 2013

I love it when you find a book that holds you tightly and even when you are going through your day draws you back as soon as time allows. That is the Academy Series. You get to watch a relationship blooming from Sang and these Seven Wonderful boys/men and you can't help finding one you cheer for. The three books are amazing and I am so excited that the series is going to continue. The Academy still lets you fall in love with Sang and lets you emotionally attach yourself to her. You can't help feel for her. It does take time for her to grow and learn to accept the boys and their offer of friendship. I love the fact it doesn't happen overnight. Watching the relationship with each of the boys and Sang is amazingly written and one can see how they feel for her. If you want to become addicted to a wonderful story, with wonderful characters that become alive and embedded into your heart then you should read this series. It is amazing and you will not be sorry.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Awesome 20. September 2013

I love love love this series! Sang isn't like the normal characters I read about, but you really feel for her the deeper into this series you get. She's really shy and timid but you can tell she's starting to come into her own. I love all the guys too! I liked at the end it was from kotas point of view, and we gathered that all the guys(and Mr blackbourne from the end of book 2) like her and are interested in her but it would be nice to read some from everyone's point of view throughout the story, including Mr Blackbourne and Dr green. I really hope in book four things are a little easier for sang and she gets more comfortable with herself and the guys and things work out. Some people said they'd like to see more girls come into the mix for the guys but I don't agree with that, I'd like for there to be more I guess I'd say romantic moments to see who sang is interested in, and who's really interested in her for her and not to protect her and all that. I can't wait until book four comes out to see what happens next! I have to say I'm team Victor! Maybe kota if he can start to actually show sang he's interested in her

2.0 von 5 Sternen Numerous typos and continuing promotion of "girl in need" of being controlled 30. Dezember 2013
Von Amazonian - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
There were many typos in this book and yes, I sent off a lot to Amazon to fix. Spell check only checks misspelled words, not wrong ones. A good copy editor would be worthwhile investing in, or even a friend to double check as the errors were jarring.

The story has very interesting possibilities, but the continuation of the "girl" being controlled by the studly "men" in her life is not something to advise young women to read. Yes, she does stand up for them, but in return they tell her what she can do, read, wear, do. And the evolving line of intimacy is blurring between what do friends do (a big concern for the main character) vs what do lovers do.

I appreciate your addressing abuse as it is very needed.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Love the concept... but confusedby some choices 14. Dezember 2013

I am really invested in this series. Even though I am in my mid-30’s, I like this YA story. That being said, I don't think I’ll continue with this series for a couple of reasons:

1- I am uncomfortable with the physical and romantic relationships developing between Sung and EVERY SINGLE MALE in the book. At first, I thought it was nice that they were showing her affection and the gestures seemed to be platonic. But now it’s getting creepy and downright inappropriate. Let’s not forget, she’s still a child. And sleeping with (multiple) boys wrapped around her, sitting on every man’s lap and being carried everywhere, teachers kissing her hand, etc. are just NOT ok.

2- It’s taking to long for every storyline to develop. At this point, I’m not even sure the author knows the answers to questions like: What exactly is The Academy? What is the real issue at the public school? What’s the deal with the boys’ backgrounds? Why is Marie even in the book? And why introduce Danielle if she isn’t going to actually do anything? How has Sung been in public school her whole life and has never had any friends? The story has morphed from developing these storylines to only showing how they touch/think about one another.

3- Young people need to know that trust is a 2-way street. Sung is expected to blindly trust and follow the boys no matter what. Yet, she knows NOTHING about them. They don’t trust her with anything personal about their own lives and they are literally invading every single aspect of her life. They even have cameras in her bathroom. That’s not a relationship.

I do like how the issue of abuse is being dealt with (although I think the adults are selfishly taking too long to intervene). And I like the overall theme of friendship and what constitutes a family. The foul language doesn’t bother me as much as it seems to bother others. And I always love a new, fresh story. It’s very imaginative. But the direction the story is going is making me uncomfortable and it’s taking too long to develop so, I think I’ll regretfully say goodbye to The Academy now.
