Kurzbeschreibung

FOOLISH PRIDE (Jamison Series, Bonus Short Story)

When God was handing out out pride, Danny Jamison must have gotten in line twice, because he's about to let the best thing that's ever happened to him slip away--Emily Harris.

Emily is head-over-heels in love with Danny, but she's not sure she can take his jealous mood swings anymore. Something has to give or his Foolish Pride is going to be the end of them.

EXCERPT:

Sinking down until submersed to her neck, Emily bent her knees and closed her eyes, letting the steaming water work its magic. It seeped into her bones, relaxing her from head to toe as her worries seemed to melt away.

By feel alone, she grabbed her two-in-one shampoo, squeezed a small amount onto her head, and scrubbed like a mad woman. Once rinsed, she reached for the washcloth and bar of soap. She lathered up her face first, washing away her dried tears and every trace of make-up. She ran the washcloth over her shoulders, under her armpits, over her breasts and stomach. She moved the washcloth between her legs--

"I'd be more than happy to take over for you."

Emily squealed and sat up in a rush, sloshing water all over the floor. When she realized the massive shadow framing her doorway was Danny, she threw the wet washcloth at him. "Dammit, you scared me half to death!"

He pushed away from the door and strode forward. "Sorry. I knocked, but you had Metallica blaring so loud you couldn't hear me."

"I find Metallica extremely relaxing," she snapped. "Now give me back my key and get the hell out of my apartment." She held out her hand.

Danny knelt beside the tub, but instead of handing her the key he brushed his knuckles down her cheek.  "Look, Em, I know you're royally pissed at me right now, but if you'd just give me a chance to explain, I--"

"Are you kidding me? 'Royally pissed' doesn'teven begin to describe how I feel." Suddenly more angry than upset, she crossed her arms over her breasts and brought her knees up in an effort to preserve a little modesty. Which she knew was ridiculous since they'd been sleeping together for more than a year.

"You have no idea how sorry I am for what I said. It was completely inexcusable. But...if you could just give me one more chance..." He grabbed her hand and brought it to his lips, holding it against his cheek as he said, his voice raw with emotion, "Em, I love you. And I know you love me, too."

Her eyes filled with tears. Damn him! Now? He waits until things are over between us to finally say those three little words I've been waiting so patiently to hear him say? But...as much as she wanted to believe him, she couldn't, she just couldn't.

She jerked her hand from his. "I'm sorry, too, Danny. But I can't do this anymore.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Not quite a "story". Reads more like a portion of a bigger book. 28. August 2011
Von Rhonda Valverde - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I'm having a hard time reviewing this one. Most novellas have a flowing story line with a clear start and finish. Foolish Pride to me seemed like I picked up a book and started reading some chapters in the middle of it. Being that the description says it's an "extra peek" into the series, that's to be expected I guess. It's hard to judge whether I liked the characters or not because what I read was very emotional and I think I was seeing the characters at their worst. That being said, I tried to think about the bigger picture and what they would be like if I knew their pasts and more about what their relationship had been like.
Danny's character, in this small snip-it, was a real jerk. You see his bad side with the possessive and controlling attitude and temper he shows. My first reaction was that he's an abusive boyfriend. (not physically, but mentally)
Emily didn't do much but cry because she is so in love with him she doesn't know what to do.

Through out the story he does show his remorse for the things he's done and said. He knows the he is the one to blame and makes it up to Emily in the end. I would love to see this story expanded. I think there is so much more to Emily and Danny's story yet to be told.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Good short story! 5. September 2011
Von Diana Coyle, Book Reviewer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Ms. Rogers has penned this short story to be packed with such heartfelt emotions that you just can't help but hope that Danny and Emily can work through their issues together. At first I hated Danny and everything he stood for. He had no right constantly accusing Emily of cheating on him just because he was an immature guy with plenty of insecurity issues that he was dealing with. I have to be honest and say that it took me a bit of time to even warm up to him because he was just too immature for my taste and I felt that Emily needed to stick to her guns with him. She needed a mature man in her life and not an ignorant boy as her partner. If you're looking for a short read that will help you escape your busy schedule for a little while, than you have found the perfect story to do just that!

Short story - Not worth the read. Characters were not likeable, I wondered the entire time why they were together. Their relationship was not believable and one that you would want to read about. I am glad it was free.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Won't say hate but I will say I didn't like it. 18. Februar 2012
Von Mrs. K. Lewis - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

When did verbal abuse become romantic? The guy (hero) was abusive (period). Do I need to say anymore? I don't understand how anyone can think abuse is romantic. How can the hero call you a WH?RE and it's okay? Not for me and I'm not sure I can forget it and be like oh, he's so romantic. Not gonna happen. So because of that, I'm standing with "I didn't like it".

1.0 von 5 Sternen Don't waste yout time 19. August 2014

What a waste of 99 cents. I was shocked when I finished this super short story. Only 4 mini chapters. There was no excitement, thrill or adventure. A complete flat line. Maybe it was a good thing that it was a short story. This should never have made it to publishing.
