Hier sind die Schritte im Detail:
Gerät läuft wunderbar, macht was es soll.
Ansonsten: 5 Sterne.
Future iterations may need better or active cooling by default, though.
Especially for the SSDs and if you allow two of them inside. Without proper airflow, they get toasty, even at idle. Not to the point of overheating, but an almost constant 60C is probably not good for long-term durability?
If anyone else wants to add a fan, the CPU-FAN or SYS-FAN headers requires some like a "1.25mm Pitch (PicoBlade) size" connector. Haven't tested that yet, still waiting on material.
But normal 4pin PWM or even the smaller 4pin GPU connector are too big.
Small note about boot up: If no display is connected to the machine, it will beep five times after the normal boot beep. At first I thought something was wrong, but it's just an indication that no display is connected.

The system works well with 32 GByte of DDR5-4800 memory (brand: Vengeance) and a Kingston NV2 SSD, 1 TB. I have Ubuntu 22 running on it and it runs flawlessly, out of the box. I did extensive testing, stressing the CPU and memory, and no errors were encountered.
When running al low CPU load, the system runs cool (sensors tells that the core temperature of the CPU is around 40 C, on light load it rises to 50 C.
When the CPU is stressed strongly (e.g. 6 cores, running at 100%), then the system gets quite hot (core temperature 75 .. 80 C at ambient temperature of 23 C). The outside of the box then also becomes quite hot, so hot that you cannot bear holding it in your bare hands for more than a few seconds.
When an old 12 V PC fan is connected to one of the USB ports and put loosely on top of the box, then even under heavy load, the core temperature does not exceed 60 C and the box itself only feels lukewarm. I use it like that. The slowly spinning fan only takes a few tens of mA from the USB and no dust can reach the inside of the system in that way. There are four holes at the bottom of the box, to which an 80 mm fan can be attached, but the disadvantage of that is that dust will be blown inside the box. With the solution I hooked up, no dust gets inside, and this provides really good cooling.

Better than ordering from AE as the shipping delay will be too much and you won't get amazing after sales service from HUNSN. They were very prompt in replies. Definitely recommend them over others.
Installed OPNsense on it and so far it runs like a charm and seems very snappy. Installation was easy and all hardware was recognized (I'd still recommend avoiding a no-name SSD / RAM if you add your own and want to run PFSense or OPNsense, for peace of mind, warranty, stability and also as FreeBSD is maybe less "forgiving" than Linux).
The BIOS has an extensive amount of settings that can be tweaked and I mean, really extensive. I only disabled audio and the audio beep; the rest of the settings seem to follow sane defaults. You can geek out there for quite a while if you want/need, though.
The unit doesn't run hot so far but I have yet to test it under full load; I assume it might get hotter but the guys from ServeTheHome seemed to say that even so it will still stay within reasonable limits.
For a mini-firewall and especially if you don't need more than 2.5Gbit routing, it seems to be one of the top choices at this moment.
The vendor was very proactive and contacted me as soon as I made the purchase, to recommend that I use some quality/branded RAM and SSD and was very open to any further questions.
They also followed through with another message when the delivery guy missed me on first attempt, to make sure I was aware and will reschedule the delivery.
A nice touch of extra care that was appreciated.
