A short book with a lot to talk about for an advanced english class

Our English teacher recommended that we read Ray Bradbury's version of a blunted and selfish world in a far future and after a lot of convincing talk's with her, we dicided to give the novel a shot and it was not as disapointing as we thought after the first time we read it.
In the beginning everyone had a hard time to read the English of the 50's and we needed to look up a lot of words we had never even heard of before.
Anyhow, after some small ajustments in our vocabulary skills, the reading became easy and soon it was enjoyable to read.
However, the story is a much easier construction that is just made hard by the choice of words. Bradbury's science fictional work intents on the growing apathy that the majority in the world has for what is happening around them and to them. The population votes for politicians by their apperance instead of the content of their political programms and everyone is just looking for the best ways to be entertained and pleased 24/7.
It is exactly the growing ignorance we have thesedays for everything that happens in the world of the 21st century.
Even many inventions are described. He describes headphones, a 3D television, a TV programm that everyone can interact with and a bugging divice.
Who would have thought of that in the 50's of the nineteenth century...
I just gave the book three points because it's not a book that I would read outside of a class room but it gives students a lot to think about their behavier and maybe helps them to look at the world in a diffrent way.
