HASH(0x8d7dfc9c) von 5 Sternen A Good Book to Start You on the Path to Healthy Eating 25. April 2012
Von S. Mayes - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
This book is an easy read, written with plain & simple language with realistic advice. The content is so easy to understand (for USA readers - it has some UK English terms); it's like sitting down and talking with a good friend. This book does not define some radical, fad diet plan - it gives good, solid advice for healthy eating - what to eat and why to eat it. It does not contain detailed recipes, however, which would have been a great addition.

HASH(0x8d57f6fc) von 5 Sternen Great ideas for healthy living. 5. April 2012
Von BookishFriend - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

The author has really impressed me with this book. I am somewhat of a novice of the subject of nutrition and have been reading a few books on the subject. Most have bored me to tears, however this book is a neat little package that contains a sharp burst of nutritive wallop.

The author delivers onw what is promised in the title. Many of the foods that I love do leave me feeling hungry soon afterwards, so this book has helped me identify much better foods to eat.

She explores all manner of food group and outlines exactly which foods are healthy, why they are healthy and how they benefit you.

I was very pleased to hear about the benefits of raspberries too as they are my favourite fruit!

Recommended read.

HASH(0x8d65d708) von 5 Sternen A healthy book to feed your mind as well as your tum 2. April 2012
Von D. C. Wiggs - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

This is the first book of Diana's that I have had the fortune to read, on my constant quest to contain my ever-expanding middle-aged spread.

Rather than dole out the same old low carb, Atkins based, unhealthy short-term weight loss recipes, the author has written a well researched, fascinating guide to just how and why your body needs the basic components of nourishments, which ones to avoid and which you can consume healthily, happily in the knowledge you are doing only good to your body. After the easily digested sciencey parts of the book, Diana then goes into great detail explaining the healthy, filling foods and giving simple recipe ideas for each.

For me, the chapter on Broths alone was worth the price of this book - the author's idea of adding this extra simple course to my evening meal has so far been a great success. More fiber, more nutrients and more full up!

HASH(0x8d492e04) von 5 Sternen Sensible Advice 18. September 2012
Von Kerry Ann - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

The reason I bought this book (may one say "bought" when the book was freely given?) was because summer is coming to the southern hemisphere which is where I live. Any book that tells me I need not be hungry while I lose "winter weight" is going to interest me.

As always, I read the reviews which were mixed. "Ho hum" tedium followed by praise, and that made me wonder.
The book is a very quick study, that comment is true. This is a short book. It also bears a couple of very simple messages that I found helpful.

I would not hesitate to suggest that - for instance - a teenager who is anxious to slim down but stay healthy should have this book bought for him or her. Also, perhaps, a busy mom whose focus has been off herself to the extent that she's forgotten how to begin (again?) the endless cycle of staying fit and trim while making sure that those in her care do the same, and so on. I see this book very much as a re-reminder; in my view it makes you remember things you knew and had temporarily forgotten.

It pleased me that food like oatmeal was suggested (I hate oatmeal) in a hidden form! Even more pleasing was the idea that I was reminded of cold oats (with grated apple, cinnamon and a low fat yoghurt topping, left in the fridge overnight), just as I'd enjoyed all those years ago at a day spa!

That sort of thing, you see?
That is what makes me think that, as a starting point for summer, this is a book that deserves the extra star I've just added during my composition of this review.

Plain, simple, sensible.
I know that whoever uses this book as a guide to losing weight isn't going to starve to death, exercise till they collapse, or faint in my class from the extremes of food that their fad diet currently advises. I wish the author was my dietitian, and when her next book comes out with a couple of menu plans, I hope I know about it.

And that is why I give it four low fat stars!

HASH(0x8e1bf12c) von 5 Sternen Not a diet book 27. April 2012

I just read this short food book by Diane Krane. It- is short but packed with useful infotmation. It is also about food -not dieting, per se. And it is also about human nature, which leads one to packing on the pounds. I especially appreciated the section on foods that fill you up. Though some were familiar, there were some surprises. I have been reading widely on lifestyles to lose weight and this book has been helpful for me. Let it help you, too.
