Genre: Young adult fantasy love story
Length: 161 pages
Part one of a series
Pagan has always seen dead people, but this time something is different. The soul who appears to her is speaking and not going away. At first he is just a soul until one day he is a fellow student, a singer called Dank. Pagan is not really interested in a relationship, but her attraction to Dank frightens her, so she becomes Leifs girlfriend, with him she feels normal and safe.
But when she becomes jealous of every girl around Dank and can't stop thinking of him, when he comes to her and night and tells her that she too is impossible to resist her feelings become very clear to her. She has feelings for Dank and this is when he disappears for her best.
But the things she witnesses, the hole his absence leaves in her heart are not easy to deal with. If she knew that the man she fell in love with is death and that this time death has saved his life, would she run from him?
The plot is good, the fantasy part is great. The story is told from Pagan's point of view which allows the reader to discover the truth about Dank in the same time than Pagan does. The characters are interesting, but I somehow could not connect to the story, not believe in the couple, I remained an outside spectator until the end. I also could not really understand the relation between Pagan and Lief and I could not get into the story. I could not rally care about the story because I just watched it and did not feel it.
I will however start the next one. We'll see.
Enjoy the read and feel free to comment MBTM
