The lines between reality and fantasy blur in this stunning thriller ... a prescient page-turner and a provocative, believable portrayal of the seductive world of virtual gaming. ... the scary climax, a romantic subplot and plenty of thoroughly credible gaming add proper spark to a pageturner with amps aplenty. From its opening notes of eerie virtual landscapes, to its mesmerizing conclusions, EREBOS is a nuanced thriller that weaves effortlessly between reality and virtual space, bringing its protagonists closer to the brink of destruction-or salvation-with every turn of the page.
Poznanski's thriller effectively plays off the difficulty of balancing online and real-life personae, and the all-too-possible idea that gamers are being secretly shaped into an unwitting army is indeed a scary one.--Daniel Kraus"Booklist" (03/01/2012)
Erebos is a page-turner of a book.--Patty Osborne"Geist" (06/04/2012)
Nevertheless, the depiction of gaming raises a host of provocative questions about its prevalence in popular culture, and the book will likely appeal to fans of Cory Doctorow.--Jonathan Hunt"Horn Book" (06/15/2012)
A literary marvel.--Kara Smith"Professionally Speaking" (09/01/2012)
As a middle-aged non-gamer, observing this process was fascinating: I became as addicted to the book as the characters are to the game!--Patricia Jermey"Resource Links" (04/01/2012)
It's a solid purchase where gaming is popular--in other words, most libraries.--Hayden Bass"School Library Journal" (07/01/2012)
This book will appeal not only to gamers, but to any fan of suspense and adventure. This is an excellent addition to any collection serving teens.--Bethany Martin"VOYA" (06/13/2012)
Erebos is a tightly plotted, suspenseful novel that draws the reader into its world.--Kate Sweeney"Baltimore's Child" (10/01/2012)
I was super impressed by this book. I thought I had found a treasure when I was reading the Feyland trilogy, but this was even better... The author did a terrific job of crafting surprises. She held my attention without underestimating my intelligence, and I didn't feel like I'd been taken through a convoluted labyrinth, simply for the sake of distraction and in hopes of preserving the punch line. The story was astonishingly straightforward and yet still fascinating. This one grabbed me from page one, and it's a rare treat that I recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy, mythology, gaming, urban fantasy, or an engaging story.--Kelly Truelove"Good Reads" (03/16/2013)

I read this book after my son and his friends (age 13) were captivated by it and I really loved it. Not only is it a story that gets to you from the very beginning, the book is also well written in the literary sense. Of course, as a German native speaker I am happy to see it translated into English Language. The moment it was on the market I immediately gave it to kids of American friends. The feedback was so postive that I'd assume any worries about bad translation can be put aside.
Mein Fazit: Klasse Buch. Tolle wahrheitsnahe Geschichte.

The plot is very predictable and there's more telling than showing. I'm disappointed as I thought the premise of the book was fantastic. I agree with another reviewer that there's nothing about the description of the game that feels authentically addictive. There are long chapters of in-game descriptions that just feel boring and like a list of obvious clues as to what will happen later
As a reader, all I can say is that this international import is truly awesome. The sinisterness of the game is truly creepy, and the mystery of Erebos is intriguing enough to drive the story at a fast pace towards its thrilling conclusion. While this novel has the potential to be enjoyed by teens of any age and gender, it’s not completely fun and games. There are some dark moments in the story, including a scene where one character is accused of assault, and another where characters discuss a suicide that happened several years previous. There’s also some swearing and fantasy violence, but nothing graphic enough to mention. Overall, a thrilling novel, recommended for Ages 15-up.
There's a normal school in London, where a disc of a videogame is handed from kid to kid. But nobody is allowed to talk about it, it's all done secretly.
The game seems to know everything about you, it watches you, it rewards you, it tests you and it punishes you - not only in the world of the game, but also in real life!
The game has a goal, it wants to kill!
After the first few pages I found it really hard to stop reading, cause I just had to find out what would happen next.
I was an Erebos Junkie, just like the people in the book.
The book takes you into the world of the videogame, with a language that lets it become almost real and lets you vividly
imagine the whole world of Erebos.
I'd say it is a must read for everyone who likes fantasy and for everyone who's ever played a videogame!
