5.0 von 5 Sternen Emissary: Book Two of the Percheron Saga 21. Mai 2012
Von Angel - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Once again, Fiona Mcintosh has struck gold with this book. The story continues about Ana the Odalisque from the first book in the series & how the new Zar's mother takes an utter dislike for Ana who is part of the harem. Herezah fears that her son the Zar is becoming too fond of Ana & hashes out a plan to utilize Ana's tendency to skim the rules of the harem to destroy her & have her fall out of favour with the young & inexperienced Zar.
Herezah did not expect that Spur Lazar would use a trump card to try & spare Ana from her punishment after she fell into Herezah's trap. Due to his taking her punishment which is selected by the Head Eunich of the harem, he is wounded horribly & taken away to an unknown island to recover. While he is away, Herezah grieves for Lazar which makes her even more angry with Ana & more determined to cause her demise.
While all of this drama plays out,a demon called Maliz who is trying to ressurect himself in a battle between the gods, tricks one of the Goddesses disciples & falls victim to his deceit. Lyana the Goddess is once again up against her foe Maliz in the god versus goddess struggle. Whoever the victor in the battle determines the fate of the city of Percheron.
Riveting & spellbinding!

I've read some other reviews and I think I understand the problem that other readers have with this book. I understand, but I don't necessarily agree.

The second installment of the Percheron Saga is relatively tame in comparison to the first book. Other readers have said nothing happens, but that's untrue. This book is more of a political struggle than the first, both within Percheron and with the gods. It's a game of wits between characters and deities, but some big things happen. The goddess is revealed and then unrevealed, Maliz concocts a diabolical plan for after the cycle is complete, power in the harem shifts, Lazar returns, several beloved characters die, and an heir is created, but to which throne?

It's buildup pure and simple, because this thing is about to get crazy. Anyone who has ever read Fiona McIntosh knows that there are no straightforward endings. One minute, you think you know what's going on and the next minute, a main character is transported through time to present day, or someone has magical powers that come out of nowhere and defeat everyone. No, it doesn't fit, but it is fantasy and it's her style. And I like her style.
3.0 von 5 Sternen Buy the Third in the Series Before Reading This 30. März 2014

This is an entertaining book, but does not come to any conclusion at the end. You MUST have the 3rd book in your library before starting this one. It's a great story although not written especially for adults. Teens will enjoy its adventure and mysticism but it is a bit, just a bit, too simplistic for me. Honestly, I couldn't put it down, yet found myself irritated at times at the writing style. Also, the typos in this book are extremely distracting, which is not the writer's fault. Even with this slightly negative review, if you are looking for something entertaining to read while laying by the pool, order all three books in the series. They will satisfy and you will enjoy the story.

5.0 von 5 Sternen book two as good as the first 11. Februar 2014

I got the first book of this series on bookbub and I thought I would try it out. It was a page turner. I was disappointed that the book left me hanging. At the time I didn't realize it was a trilogy. I soon figured that out and went through this book on a rainy weekend. I am hoping for rain next weekend so I can read the final book in the series.
